Cummings Foundation
$600 Million to Greater Boston Nonprofits

Last week, Cummings Foundation welcomed 23 volunteers and 35 nonprofits to our office for Presentation Days. Volunteers reviewed applications in advance, listened to nonprofit presentations, and engaged in thoughtful Q&A discussions, ultimately determining which organizations will receive a decade of funding through the #CummingsGrant program.
As we head into a new week, our team is feeling energized and inspired by the incredible work taking place across local communities, and deeply grateful for the dedicated volunteers whose time, care, and insight make this program possible.

It’s an exciting week at Cummings Foundation! We’re welcoming 35 nonprofits to our office to be considered for 10 years of funding. Thank you to the many nonprofit representatives for their thoughtful and impactful presentations, and to the Foundation volunteers to their careful consideration. #nonprofits #cummingsgrant #greaterboston

It’s hard to believe that we are entering the final stages of the 2026 Cummings $30 Million Grant Program.
Throughoutthe grant cycle, volunteer committees come together to thoughtfully review applications and help guide funding decisions. We were fortunate to host several of these committee meetings in our Woburn office in recent weeks.
The Foundation is grateful to the many volunteer reviewers who make this process possible, and to all the nonprofits making a meaningful impact across greater Boston.

Bill was honored to attend the annual Paul Farmer Collaborative convening at Harvard earlier this week. He particularly enjoyed catching up with his dear friend Didi Bertrand Farmer.

Bill Cummings has never been shy about “Starting Small and Making it Big” — but it was truly humbling to be recognized among so many impressive, hardworking Americans on the @forbes Self-Made 250 List.

It was a true honor for our Woburn team to welcome the Commonwealth’s top official, Maura Healey, to our office this morning. We were grateful for the opportunity to host the Governor as she shared her priorities for the state and—just as importantly—took time to listen and learn from our team about what we’re seeing on the ground as a Massachusetts business.

One week ago, Cummings Foundation was delighted to host its Final Grant Selection Committee Orientation—marking the start of the final review phase of the Cummings $30 Million Grant Program.
This special evening brought together the volunteers who will work in groups of four to determine which applicants receive a #CummingsGrant this cycle.
We are deeply grateful to this dedicated group for lending their time, thoughtfulness, and expertise to the Foundation.

Ten volunteer Application Review Committee trios met last week to discuss which nonprofits would move along to the final stages of the 2026 Cummings $30 Million Grant Program. We were thrilled to host a few of those meetings in our Woburn office, and are incredibly grateful to all 30 reviewers for their thoughtful and thorough consideration of nearly 300 applications.
Pictured are volunteers (first photo l to r) John Audi, Adjoa Aquaah-Harrison, and Kathy Lucero; and (second photo l to r) Eric Johnson, Olu Ibrahim, and Ellen McLaughlin.

It was an honor for Joyce and Bill to receive the inaugural Paul E. Farmer “Bending the Arc” Award at @ughe_org’s recent graduation ceremony. Named for the late renowned global health champion, it celebrates individuals whose work reflects Dr. Farmer’s vision of reducing health disparities and advancing equitable access to care worldwide.

On Friday, Cummings Foundation founder Bill Cummings and Executive Director Joyce Vyriotes had the pleasure of attending @franklincummingstech's open house at its new campus in Nubian Square. In 2021, the Foundation committed $12.5 million to Boston’s only technical college, and we were delighted to take part in this milestone event marking the opening of the new campus.
Reflecting on the Foundation’s investment, President & CEO Aisha Francis shared, “It really transformed the thinking about what and how much investment Franklin Cummings Tech deserved… leading us to set new sights and new heights in terms of our asks and the ripple effect of that.”
The new campus represents an exciting next chapter for the school and the students, faculty, and community it serves.
