On July 1st of this year, nearly half a million New Yorkers will lose their Essential Plan health insurance coverage due to federal health care cuts.

For as little as $393 million a year, the State can ensure these New Yorkers keep their access to health insurance in the final budget. The funding for this proposal has already been supported by over 75 New York legislators.

New York has long been a trailblazer in expanding access to health coverage, because our leaders understand that health care is fundamental to a thriving economy and society. But the state is now poised to let health coverage lapse for nearly half a million New Yorkers.

The fact is, we have both the resources and workable solutions to prevent this. Our leaders in Albany must stay true to our principles and act now, urgently and decisively, to protect health coverage.
