Roger Cremers

Just got back from Colombia where we - @cremersroger and @doinakraal - had our exhibition Coulisse, Palacio de la Memoria @galeriasextante . We had a wonderful time with @kevin_simon_mancera who’s vigorous and moving work can still be admired @nueveochenta (and in some of the images in this post).
Our tapestries - inspired by historical Catchpenny prints - were made with the help of Lotte van Dijk @textielmuseum in Tilburg. They are made of woven cotton and linnen (in four colours). After they were woven we painted on them. The backside is also part of the work :)
During the opening we performed ‘Sans Frayeur dans ce bois’ by Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1680) together with the excellent Sebastian Vega on the lute.
Made possible with the support of the @mondriaanfonds .

Saturday, following the opening of @bostokkermans.sincere , the evening continues with: TAROT CARD READING – 8:00 pm
“At first glance, Jana Coorevits’ photographs and Krystel Geerts’ sculptures appear very different from one another. Yet, they share the same sensitivity. They allow the material to find its own form by giving it their full attention and observing what emerges. They place the process at the centre.”
“In the fold of reality,” as Indra Devriendt called it. Geerts and Coorevits took this further by organising a Tarot Card Reading on Saturday evening at 8 pm. Roger Cremers and Doina Kraal will present their tarot deck, designed in collaboration with Professor Kurt Vanhoutte (University of Antwerp).
Jana Coorevits has compiled a selection of texts for the occasion that engage in dialogue with the works in the exhibition. We will read by candlelight and moonlight.

Now on view, ‘Le Sacre du Printemps’
a project by @petervos1975 and @doinakraal & @cremersroger
This exhibition needs to be experienced after sunset.
The exhibition Le Sacre du Printemps explores the dynamics between two extreme tendencies that coexist: the glorification versus the sacrifice of nature by humans. Artists Peter Vos, Roger Cremers and Doina Kraal share a love for the enchanting beauty of nature and the animal world. In the exhibition, they place their sense of wonder for the natural world in a long history of art forms that use nature as an endless source of inspiration. At the same time, attention is paid to the sacrifice of both nature and youth for a life in which nature is subordinate to man. A wide range of historical references resonate particularly strongly in the current era, in which war and climate change are the order of the day.
