Heading to Greece for Hellenic Mountain Race (900km +30,000m) tomorrow 🇬🇷
Had a few more crashes than I’d like lately, so I’ll probably start this one pretty easy and settle in before thinking about racing. If I finish without falling off, anything else is a bonus.
Race starts Saturday morning and the tracking link is in my bio. Pray for my poor knees

The weekend I needed // This mountain pass has been on my list for months, so with windy saying 0cm snow depth we set off

Seen better days. Traka 560 was a last-minute entry, supposed to be a redemption for what was a disappointing Dales Divide.
Easy to convince yourself an entire year has been cursed by two unfortunate crashes. I’ve had a lot on my mind and I guess shit happens.
That said, Hellenic Mountain Race is only a couple of weeks away and right now it’s very unlikely I’ll race it. I love pushing myself and seeing what comes of it, but some of my best days have been at a gentler pace. I want to go discover what looks like an incredible mountain range, free of the pressure.
The crash:
I’d already decided I was going to quit. My bike wasn’t ok and nor was I. On the descent toward Setcases I had a bit of an emotional moment, frustrated by another DNF, but still in awe of getting to climb/descend these beautiful beasts. My mind wondered momentarily on a hairpin bend and next thing I knew I was heading for the ravine. I slammed on, went over the bars, and into a small bit of wall protecting me from the drop. A kind German man found me in a heap, put me and my bike in his car, and within minutes was driving me 90km home. Cuts and bruises feels lucky.

Dales Divide was technically my first ultra three years ago, but I made every mistake imaginable. I scratched and said never again. But here I am, ready to go tomorrow.
The start list has some huge names and over 300 riders lining up. I’ll be racing it, but mostly I’m looking forward to a couple of days soaking up Britain’s best county, trudging bogs and opening hundreds of farm gates.

Feeling like myself again, reflecting on what was a crazy 48 hours of racing. The next one is just around the corner 👀

ENG: With four editions under its belt, The Capitals is steadily establishing itself as a benchmark event in the world of ultra-cycling. Its route showcases the diverse landscapes of Catalonia, connecting its four provincial capitals —Barcelona, Lleida, Tarragona, and Girona— which gives the event its name. The course covers 850 km and over 14,000 meters of elevation gain. “We try to design a logical route, without odd loops or pointless sections. A very special energy is created — a deep sense of camaraderie and friendship,” explains Óscar from PedAlma.
