The future of jazz looks bright! 🌟

The Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra (formerly known at the ANJO Youth Big Band)brings together our brightest and youngest jazz stars, aged 18 - 25, from across the nation. Entry to AJYO is by competitive, blindfold audition with the successful candidates travelling to Sydney for a week-long intensive with the special guest artist in preparation for this concert.

AYJO artistic directors: Mace Francis, David Theak & Nadje Noordhuis
Together with Florian Ross, a musical explorer whose work encompasses the full spectrum of jazz and contemporary improvised music, they will co-create the perfect symbiosis between composition and improvisation.

Lauren Tsamouras (piano) brings Another Green World to Sydney Con Jazz Festival—a set of new compositions shaped by Greek musical influence, modern jazz language, and open improvisation.

Featuring Hilary Geddes (guitar), Brendan Clark (bass) and Ashley Stoneham (drums), these compositions draw on elements of Greek traditional music as a way for Lauren to explore her Greek heritage and what it means to her to be Greek-Australian.

This music transports listeners to another world, creating moments of reprieve, beauty, trance-like pulsatile loops and flickers of the Mediterranean.

A multi-award-winning pianist and composer whose work has shaped contemporary jazz and art music in Australia for over two decades, she takes the stage at Sydney Con Jazz Festival with:
