The AM4 platform brought AMD back onto the charts for the first time since 2006 (we can argue about Steamroller in the comments). A familiar choice for budget gamers, AMD made the bold promise of five years of support through generations of processors on a universal socket. While the marketing team and the engineers disagreed on that statement, motherboard manufacturers were the ultimate decision makers when it came to support. Many of the earliest AM4 boards which were compatible with the last generation of A10s support the last generation of Ryzen CPUs through firmware updates.

The high end motherboard and processor that this gaming PC features debut in 2014. Despite its age, the combo fares fairly well with modern games.
As the first “consumer” Intel platform to support DDR4, X99 was limited in compatibility with RAM and does not support speeds higher than 2400mhz. As a successor tothe server-grade X79 chipset, X99 uses an LGA2011 socket in its third iteration. These processors get hot, use a lot of power and require cooler mounting hardware unique to the LGA2011 socket.
Paired with an RX580, this custom build should fulfill e-sports needs relatively smoothly between 720-1080P.
Would you consider this prosumer setup from a decade ago for the asking price of 350 USD?

Came across my HTC Apache - otherwise known as the Sprint PPC-6700. Launched with Windows Mobile 5, this handheld was a productivity machine. A copy of Office Mobile including Outlook and Excel were available, WiFi, Bluetooth, an IR blaster, 1.3MP camera with manual adjustable zoom, all attached to a QWERTY keyboard. At some point I either flashed a Windows Mobile 6 ROM or installed a convincing theme. This CDMA handset is no longer useful as a phone, but I expect to find some usable Java applets. And a copy of Spore.

MacBook and ThinkPad X200
Taken in 2014 on my LG Optimus G Pro
At some point I replaced the internals with a 2008 MacBook motherboard that made the keyboard bulge due to incompatible mounting points. It was worth the upgrade to a Core 2 Duo from a Core Duo
