Manual material handling is seen in supermarkets and is a contributing factor to cause muscle strains and sprains. They are one of the most common retail employee injuries and can result in multiple days of missed work.

Retail employees can suffer from these injuries whether it be from improper training in lifting or handling techniques, heavy equipment, pushing and pulling heavy loads, or even just from repetitive movements.

A solution can be to provide mechanical aids and automation to assist employees with physical tasks wherever possible to prevent risk of injuries.

Ensuring that employees will be less exposed to repetitive and physical work for long periods of time, 250 kg of payload, and a possibility of 24/7 operation hours, our fleet of mobile robots will automate in-store transportation processes and create a safer working environment, higher working standards for the floor staff.

How does integration of our system work?

There are 3 main steps:

🟣 STEP 1: Store Evaluation– To find the optimal solution, we need to understand the throughput of products within the store, processes, and internal dynamics. We will evaluate the store then provide a report with recommendations for automation and best practices for high ROI.

🟡 STEP 2: Risk Assessment– An evaluation of the store will be conducted from an operational and safety standpoint, including busy zones, types of doors, and security. A report will be provided for safe integration of a fleet of mobile robots in the store.

🟣 STEP 3: Full System Integration– At this stage we will have a deep understanding of the store process, and a detailed plan of how many robots the store needs, and how to smoothly integrate into the pre-existing store workflows.

The retail industry still suffers from many of its jobs being labour intensive and repetitive, and so this has caused the industry to have high levels of labour shortage and high staff turnover.

Our research shows that 40% of supermarket employees’ time is spent walking, pushing and pulling heavy loads to carry out tasks such as restocking and online order fulfilment.
