The Shoppes at University Place... 🤔 Do you mean The Boardwalk?
We all already called this bustling area of University City "the boardwalk," so it only made sense for the popular shopping plaza's new owners, Red Hill Ventures, to include a renaming as part of their transformative investment.
The Boardwalk at University City is becoming a premier destination for business owners and residents, thanks to new developments and its convenient light rail access.
So, what do you think? Ready for a trip to The Boardwalk? We know we are!

If you ask City Arborist Laurie Reid, cherry blossoms are some of her favorite trees. "They are the bringers of spring," she said. 🌸
Cherry blossoms have been thriving in North Carolina for years. Reid says the city mostly carries Yoshino and Okame trees. However, the blossoms aren't the only "cherries" that exist in North Carolina. For Asian American Pacific Islander Month, read all about the connection between the Japanese cherry blossoms and our native black cherry with the link in our bio or at cltgov.me/cherries.

Okay so we’re not saying @pitbull will be at Steps for Shelter Pets on May 30, but we’re not NOT saying it either. I mean, he IS going to be in the Queen City in May 👀
You can meet adoptable pitbulls (the doggie kind, we promise) and many other sweet pups at Pearl Street Park in just two weeks! 🐾 Your donations, contributions and literal steps will make a huge difference for all the furry friends brought to Animal Care and Control (@animals_clt).
A local hotspot for small businesses and entrepreneurs in East Charlotte is transforming into something more — a Business Opportunity Hub.
Thanks to the Charlotte Latin American Chamber of Commerce and the city's Corridors of Opportunity program, Spark Centro will now provide vital resources to support emerging local retailers, entrepreneurs and job seekers in the Albemarle/Central Corridor.
Watch our video to learn more about Spark Centro and the small businesses it will support, then head over to cltgov.me/corridors for a crash course on all things Corridors of Opportunity.

You've heard Charlotte is much cleaner than the national average when it comes to litter, 38x cleaner, but did you know we found some...weirder pieces of litter? Well, look no further! And if anyone is missing their ping pong table... we're definitely not using it on our lunch breaks! 🏓
Read about the citywide litter study with the link in our bio or cltgov.me/litterstudy and learn how you can get involved to make a difference in your community.

We are in a historic drought with conditions last seen in 2007. Recovery will take sustained rainfall over weeks, possibly months. One or two rain events won’t be enough.
Mandatory water conservation restrictions take effect Friday, May 15. We are making adjustments to ensure reliable service for all customers and appreciate your commitment to making every drop count!
Visit charlottewater.org for drought information and resources. #LessWaterCLT
A basic painting class changed Umayal Annamalai's life a few years ago. Through that class, Umayal decided to go all in and become a full time artist. Since then she's expanded her reach, hosting creative art workshops across Charlotte thanks to a Creative Growth Grant from the City of Charlotte.
Learn more about Umayal, her Roots to Rise workshops and how they are providing a safe, healing space for the community in the video above.
In celebration of AAPI month, support Umayal by visiting umayal.art and signing up for one of her workshops. Link in bio.
Charlotte's transportation history and current bike infrastructure came together in a unique way last weekend, when the Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission took residents on a tour across the city.
We joined CDOT on their History Bike Ride, a special Bike Month event that did not disappoint. Check it out and then be sure to head over to the link in our bio to see what else they have planned throughout May.
We know the rain this week has been a welcome relief, but our water supply still needs our help. Mandatory water restrictions go into effect May 15. Here’s what to know before they kick in:
🌿 Irrigation restricted to 2 days/week — watering permitted only 6 p.m. overnight to 6 a.m.
📍 Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesday & Saturday
📍 Even-numbered addresses: Wednesday & Sunday
🚫 No residential car washing
Together we can make every drop count!

"It's hard to believe that there's actually people that just care about strangers." 🤝
Those are the words of Ralph Fulmore, one of the new residents now living in Easter's Home — a 21-unit apartment building for those who have experienced chronic homelessness.
In partnership with @dreamkeyorg, @roofabove and the City of Charlotte, Caldwell Presbyterian Church converted its old education building into faith-based affordable housing.
We met Ralph and fellow tenant Kevin Gittens at the official opening of Easter's Home, where we got to know just how much this new opportunity means to them.
