RATHER EXCESSIVE

This record was a group effort in every sense of the word. Ivan may write the songs, but everybody in this band writes what they play, and this album became the sound of all of us pushing ourselves way too far for way too long.
It took about a year and a half to two years to write, and was recorded in four extremely intense weekend sessions at @portiastreetstudios near Echo Park with Morgan producing.
This is a rock opera in four acts.
ACT I:
An introduction to the world of the record.
ACT II:
Things become dreamy, sweet, glamorous, intoxicated.
ACT III:
The spiral.
Probably the angriest part of a Hollywood Apocalypse record we’ve made so far.
ACT IV:
The emotional comedown.
The romantic, hopeful aftermath.
The album is just under 52 minutes long, making it our second longest record (53 still holds the crown), but it has the most songs we’ve ever put on one release.
This album is both a love letter and a hate letter to the whole world of sex, drugs, and rock & roll that Hollywood has to offer. And honestly? Everybody involved with this record almost died at some point during the process… except @celindachang , who we’re now pretty sure is invincible.
Thanks to @thelcliving for letting us use the greatest rooftop on the planet.
A few fun details:
• @philipthestrange was away on tour during the cover shoot, but if you look VERY closely, you can still find him on the cover.
• @rotten_rollin_fanclub got stuck in traffic after a gig and couldn’t make the shoot in time, so we turned him into a blimp.
