celebrating 20 years of @beyoncé’s coronation - “crazy in love” 👑🐝

i was ten years old. i remember coming home from school in 2003 & randomly turning on MTV right as her episode of “making the video” was starting. at the time, i wasn’t as tapped in to pop culture as i would later become. i hadn’t heard the song nor did i know there was a solo album on the way. 🤯 talk about a reintroduction.

i feel like this was my first real-time experience seeing the relationship between an artist and their undeniable worldwide hit record. and it’s been incredible to witness her evolution as a performer via this song. seeing her perform it over & over again for the past 2 decades has taught me so much. believe me when i say, i’ve seen probably every performance of this song that’s available on this - her daughter’s internet. every arrangement & reimagination.

as an artist, whenever i think about an introduction to a new era, a high-energy performance with the works (vocals, choreography, band - everything firing on all cylinders), or just a bonafide smash - “crazy in love” will always be one of the first records that come to my mind - in addition to it being one of my favorite offerings from my favorite artist.

i spent the last day of my 20s reminiscing as much as i could. after going down memory lane, i figured why not make somewhat of a highlight reel based on whatever i could find. this ain’t all of it, but i look back on this stuff very fondly. and i’m very grateful for all of the beautiful souls i’ve encountered along the way while i was out here chasing my bliss.
