📣Celebrating our Tap Into Life Graduation + Showcase with The @chloemaudfoundation !✨

What an INCREDIBLE celebration of growth, rhythm, confidence, and JOY! 👏🏽💜

After 10 weeks of tap dance, drumming, movement, mindfulness, leadership development, and community-building, our amazing young people took the stage for our Tap Into Life Graduation + Showcase and WOW… they showed UP and showed OUT! 👞🥁✨

This program was about so much more than learning steps. It was about building confidence, finding your voice, taking creative risks, and stepping into leadership through movement and community.

To our brilliant youth: we are SO proud of you. Watching your growth, courage, and joy throughout this journey has been truly inspiring. 💫

We’re so proud of the talented young people who showcased everything they learned through 10 weeks of tap dance, drumming, movement, mindfulness, leadership development, and community-building. 💜✨

A huge thank you to our amazing partners and supporters: @globalartstogo, @chloemaudfoundation, @getempowered, and @nycyouth for helping make this experience possible for CAMBA youth.

Thank you as well to the families, mentors, and community members who came out to celebrate our students and their accomplishments! 🌟

CAMBA sends thanks to the Mamdani Administration for baselining $31M for LTW programs in the FY27 Executive Budget. We have seen the impact this investment has on vulnerable students on the path to graduation and long-term success.

This one hit home.

Quah-Mir Cruz was a Group Worker at CAMBA’s Van Dyke Cornerstone Community Center. Before that, he was connected to BIVO. In July 2024, he joined us through Summer Youth Employment, and from the beginning, we saw something special in him.

Quah-Mir was smart, respectful, polite, and incredibly gifted at connecting with young people. Kids listened to him because they felt him. He had leadership in him naturally. He wanted different for himself. He wanted more.

Our team was deeply impacted by the news of his passing. Another young life taken too soon by senseless gun violence. So much life ahead of him. So much more he was supposed to experience.

Our hearts are with his family, especially his mother, who is grieving the unimaginable this Mother’s Day, and with his younger brothers and sisters who now have to navigate life without their big brother.

The Van Dyke team is hurting. The CAMBA team is hurting. Here at BIVO, we grieve alongside them and alongside Brownsville.

We are asking the community to come together in love. Right now, the response cannot be more pain, more anger, or more violence. It has to be love, support, and unity for a family and community that are grieving deeply.

Please come out and show love for Quah-Mir, his family, and everyone affected by this loss.
