🦘usyd - a cheesy, sentimental, study abroad reflection:

here’s to truly one of the best experiences of my life. from searching for the only unclogged sink in reg, to swatting at bin chickens every 5 seconds, all the way to becoming a certified scuba diver, i am forever thankful for what this semester has taught me and the experiences it gave me. being abroad for so long allowed me to solo-navigate the extreme ups and downs of this newfound independence, while also being able to recognise what truly makes me happy at both uni and in life.

people will say that “you study abroad during a time in your life when it’s needed most” and let me just say, i 100% believe that that’s true. prior to going abroad, i was at the peak of burn out; dreaded stepping foot into tisch and dreaded going to any class that had to do with film & tv. honestly questioning if i’d even chosen the right major, and highly considering transferring out. fast forward 6 months, i’m concluding my study abroad journey being the happiest i’ve ever been, and having never felt so sure of what i’ve chosen to do with my life and my major. i’m ready to take the classes i thoroughly enjoy and to work on not letting my imposter syndrome control my own self worth. (yes i know 20’s too young to be thinking about all of this, but this is simply how my brain works😍)

now, no one prepares you for the wave of emotions you get hit with when leaving. saying goodbye to your friends, your experiences, and a time in your life you’re most thankful for. but while all this is true, i’m also leaving fully confident i’ll be back~

okay that’s all, if you read this far, thanks. if not, i don’t blame you LOL
