It was (only!) 4 years ago today that @chrisgeth walked on stage and officially opened Bottlerocket. What an absolute whirlwind it’s been. I opened this business as an unemployed 23 year old with 0 bar experience, 0 show bookings, and a 5 page business plan. I just happened to talk the right people into taking a chance on me - and was way too dumb to know how much I didn’t know.

Today; we produce over 380 shows a year, sell out roughly 1/3rd of them, have hundreds of students enrolled in a world class UCB training program, and get to work with some of the best people in the world. Not a bad way to spend 1460 days of your life. Bottlerocket has changed my life in so many ways, I hope it’s brought some joy into yours as well. I can’t thank everyone for their support enough.

We’re not throwing a birthday party this year (tough to top Rick Sebak filming last years for a documentary!), so here’s a photo dump from the 2 months in 2022 when we were scrambling to figure out what we should do with the 100 year old bar we were suddenly in charge of.

1) the real Bottlerocket I found in an antique store that gives the bar its name (it’s now hanging above the bar) - no we are not named after the Wes Anderson movie
2) the bar the first day I walked into it
3) finding the tin Bottlerocket signs at an antique store
4) I built a model of what I wanted the bar to look like in Roblox before I started decorating it in real life. Have to say I basically nailed the model
5) decorating
6) building the stage (eventually rebuilt at twice the height)
7) my mom staining wood the night before we opened - these planks still hold up the Bar TV’s
8) building the tech booth
9) the show poster wall - before we had any shows to memorialize on it
10) rejected logo concepts (there were lots)
11) the rough drawing that @cwpress eventually was able to translate into the real logo you all know
12) timelapse
13) running sound on opening night

Thanks for four years! Many more in store ♥️
