Designer. Artist. Life enthusiast.

Iβm excited to share this collaboration with @polymodestudio and @xyz_type on Identity is Variable: a collection of essays, interviews and reflections on identity and typography. It was such a treat getting to design this book and read amazing, thoughtful essays by designers Iβve looked up to for the last decade of my career.
Identity Is Variable explores the intimate connections between who we are and how we express ourselves through type. Design studios XYZ Type and Polymode collaborated to invite fifteen diverse voices from the design world to discuss the ways their personal and cultural identities resonate with typography, through personal narratives, critical essays, and lively conversations.
Contributors include artist-technologist Mindy Seu, designer-writer Elizabeth Goodspeed, multidisciplinary artist Diana Guerrero-MaciΓ‘, designer-poet Sadie Red Wing, and collaborative studio WORK/PLAY. Collectively, the twelve entirely original pieces in the book underscore the fact that typography is never neutral, but rather deeply personal and political.

Excited to share some new work, titled Sodomites, now on view for Queerβd: an exhibition featuring works by lgbtq+ contemporary graphic designers at Old Dominion University.
Throughout history, rumored, closeted, and out gay men have aligned themselves with institutional power for a marginal chance at forging their own. The lavender scare brought forth an era of surveillance and invasion into the private lives of queer people, and its impacts persist. Today, surveillance tech is employed in public and online along with oppressive laws and increased policing of expression and identity. In their pursuit of power, these men seek to elevate themselves at the expense of queer people, and are content in doing so.
This piece lives as a kinetic broadside thatβs paired with an augmented reality experience reprojecting the viewerβs face onto the piece. By prompting the viewer to participate in the medium, the tensions between being content and content are exposed.

Iβm still trying to synthesize my feelings from the @bipocdesignhistory and @fordfoundationgallery exhibition Reverberations: Lineages in Design History. It was an incredible night with a room packed full of amazing, inspirational and insanely talented artists and designers all with a similar end goal in mind: resistance against violent erasure and the fight for cultural preservation.
To say I am honored and humbled to be included in this community is an understatement. Thank you to @siborg81 @brianpolymode @_randahadi @r.t.gd @berriesforeveryone for curating a show with a message of unity that is larger than us all. As we face the rise of right wing fascism, I feel energized to create counter culture with this incredibly talented group of artists.
If youβre in New York, please make time to stop by the ford foundation to see this exhibition.

Iβm honored to have a piece included in the Ford Foundation Galleryβs upcoming exhibition, Reverberations: Lineages in Design History. In 2020, @siborg81 @brianpolymode and I created an intricate map of queer visual, political, and cultural history that details the infinite connectedness of the queer community and beyond.
This piece means quite a bit to me for many reasons. Right now, it serves as a reminder that we have overcome past struggles, and we will survive the ones we are facing now. Queer people have always existed and resisted, despite the American Governmentβs attempts to erase us through legislation, biological warfare by way of intentional neglect of HIV/AIDS, and persecutionβall struggles faced by other communities. All fights for liberation are connected.
We have lost rights and civil liberties since the creation of this diagram. Right wing conservatives are violating the first amendment in their legislative attacks on trans people and they will not be stopping there. Abortion access hangs in precarious balance and is oftentimes out of reach for so many people in desperate need of safe, ethical healthcare. yesterday, the βpresidentβ signed an executive order nullifying identity-based federal protections, among a host of other fascist directives. We have a lot of work to do, but I remain hopeful for the future. I look forward to adding more victories and cultural moments that have made reverberations to this in a few years.
Also, a shout out to @_randahadi, @3dgar.c, and @polymodestudio for an amazing job on the exhibition and identity. Canβt wait to see it in March π₯π«°

Immensely grateful to have had the kind of year where I canβt fit my favorite memories into a maximum of 20 slots. I lack nothing. 2024 was an s tier year. 2025 will be even more abundant π±

I found a lot of inspiration in the Juniper tree. Despite a harsh climate, these trees pierce their roots through 25ft of rock in search of waterβeach growing in their own unique, organic way. Extreme conditions be damned, the juniper still finds a way to thrive for up to 700 years. Resilience and adaptability to extreme weather and our extractive culture is admirable resistance. Maybe we can learn something from them.

What is currently identified as Moab lies on the traditional and ancestral lands of bands of the Nuutsui (Ute) and clans of Ancestral Pueblo People, along with the Paiute, Hopi, Zuni, and DinΓ© peopleβthe original stewards of the mountains, plateaus, canyons and waters we take for granted today.
