This past April, we were proud to participate in the first Canadian Collaborative Contracts Conference hosted by Infrastructure BC in Whistler.
Adham Kaddoura represented Bird, joining industry leaders focused on advancing how infrastructure is planned, procured, and delivered across Canada.
Joining the panel on leadership mindset shifts in collaborative projects, Adham shared our experience delivering Alliance and other collaborative models. The discussion reinforced what it truly takes to succeed in these environments including trust, transparency, alignment, and a willingness to lead differently.
🤝 With a growing pipeline of collaborative projects coming to market, Bird is proud to bring its leading practices and lessons learned forward. We look forward to continuing the conversation and working alongside owners and partners to help shape the next generation of infrastructure delivery.

Momentum is building at the East Harbour Transit Hub as another major milestone is reached.
Completed over a single weekend, a highly coordinated deck pour for the Eastern Avenue Bridge Deck placed 1,223 cubic metres of concrete without interruption. The scale of the operation was significant, with every element carefully sequenced to keep the work moving continuously from start to finish.
🌎 16 hours of continuous pouring, longer than a space station orbiting Earth over ten times.
⏱️ 140 concrete trucks, enough trucks to stack more than two CN Towers high.
🐘 700 tonnes of steel, comparable to the weight of 115 adult elephants.
The newly completed bridge deck now stands nine layers high and forms a critical structural element that will support future phases of the transit hub.
This milestone represents far more than a single weekend of work. It reflects months of planning, sequencing, safety reviews, coordination, and approvals, brought together through strong collaboration and the dedication of our crews to keep this critical transit infrastructure project moving forward.

Do you know where your next Walmart order is coming from? 📦
Bird delivered the South Storage Expansion at Walmart’s Surrey Distribution Centre, a six story, 300,000 sq ft facility that brings Walmart Canada’s regional supply chain into one integrated hub. The site combines administrative offices, staff amenities, and large-scale logistics, supported by automated racking, robotic cranes, and a system capable of processing up to 150,000 orders per day.
Built on a fast-tracked schedule, the work required precise coordination to align construction with complex equipment installation. Through strong collaboration and proactive planning, the team maintained momentum across every phase. Sustainability was also a priority, with zero waste initiatives and EV charging infrastructure incorporated into the facility.
The result is a resilient, high performing facility that supports operational continuity.

Learning takes shape on site.
Our Bird team was pleased to recently welcome seven students from Mamawi Atosketan Native School (MANS) to the Beverly Heights Seniors Housing project site.
With construction now in the foundation phase, students experienced early-stage building work up close, including concrete foundations already underway. For students nearing completion of the MANS carpentry program, the visit connected classroom learning with real jobsite experience.
🛠️ Made possible through the Bird Construction Building Technologies Shop at MANS, with support from J. Richard Bird and the Ptarmigan Foundation, this program helps open doors for students as they take their next steps toward careers in the trades.

🚇 Running an LRT system underneath a major community landmark? No easy task.
Constructing @calgarylibrary's New Central Library meant building directly above an active LRT line while keeping trains running safely and on schedule. The LRT Encapsulation was a critical piece of the project, relying on tight coordination and constant communication with @calgarytransit to minimize impacts on daily operations.
Here’s how we made it happen 👇
• Kept LRT service running while completing most work during regular daytime hours
• Built a strong safety culture through ongoing training, monitoring and collaboration with our construction team and sub trades
• Installed data, signals, power and permanent and temporary encapsulation to support construction above an active LRT line
The result was a landmark community space delivered in one of the city’s most complex locations while public transit kept moving every day.
