On my way out of LA moving to Boise, I finally got to briefly meet David Lynch at his autobiography book signing. I started reading it as we were moving and discovered he grew up in Boise and said it was the most important place of his childhood. That gave me a good feeling. His portrait hangs by our front door here. My first exposure to his work was The Elephant Man, then Dune and the phenomena of Twin Peaks. In college I watched Blue Velvet on a VHS viewing machine in a cubicle in the dark, empty basement of the library. Quite an experience! I ended up writing a thesis paper about it. And after absorbing all his work, it was clear my answer to the question “Who’s your favorite director?” I was thankful I got to hear David speak a number of times in LA and finally met him at the book signing. Thanks for all the great art David. And the great daily weather reports! Enjoying a, excuse me, damn fine cup of coffee for you today…
