📍31 May | Sun | 11:30AM
➡️ Rewriting the Rulebook
From medicine to the screen; from silence to radical self-expression.
Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju did not stumble into success — she wrote it for herself.
Bangalore Raani is a series celebrating everything women can be through candid, unapologetic dialogue. In this edition, Shaili Chopra joins Trinetra to talk about identity and transition: the courage it takes to live visibly as your truest self, the loneliness and liberation that come hand in hand with being a trailblazer, and what it really means to claim your place in spaces that weren’t built with you in mind.

📍30 May | Sat | 7:00PM
➡️ Chathurdasa Ragamalika: Reimagined
Fourteen ragams, one composition.
Muthuswami Dikshitar’s Sri Vishwanatham Bhajeham is one of Carnatic music’s great architectural achievements. The transitions are seamless. Each ragam retains its distinct identity.
This concert builds upon Dikshitar’s ragamalika, introducing pieces by different composers across languages and compositional forms. The same ragam, heard through different hands — violin, veenai, mridangam, ghatam — reveals new layers with every listening.

📍26 May | Tue | 7:00PM
➡️ Kundalini: The Serpent Power
Yamini is thirty years into her sadhana in Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, and Yoga. In this performance she shares a glimpse of her divine experiences. Bringing back the understanding from the ancient texts that recognised the energy in the form of deities; whose movement is a dance of masculine and feminine energies, creating life in all beings.
The choreography gives visual form to the movement of this sacred energy through the body’s chakras, drawing from Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, Vinyasa Yoga, and aerial acrobatics. The live orchestra scores each chakra to its specific scriptural sound; precise, and ancient.

➡️ The Story of Indian Media, in a Different Voice
Khabar Lahariya means news waves. For twenty-five years, a group of women in Bundelkhand created exactly that through their reporting, filming, editing, broadcasting. All in a region that had never seen women read the news, much less report it.
This session marks the launch of The Good Reporter — a biography of India’s only all-women rural news collective, written from the inside out through a unique collective process.
The grief and the anger. The thrill and the resistance. What it means in today’s world to negotiate caste, class and patriarchy as a woman, a journalist, and a writer all at once.

➡️ Ajanta Rediscovered
The Ajanta Caves hold the greatest surviving body of ancient Indian murals. Until Benoy Behl, they were the only known examples of ancient India art.
Behl’s career in photography, especially using low-light techniques, was also greatly encouraged by Dr MR Srinivasan’s interest when he was Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission in the late 80s to get such photos taken of nuclear power plants. That same eye, which was so useful in the darkness of reactor buildings, looked into ancient caves and changed how the world sees Indian art. He captured paintings hidden in ancient temples and caves, shrouded for centuries in darkness too deep for conventional photography. His work overturned the belief that India had no continuous tradition of painting from ancient times.
In this illustrated lecture, Behl traces that very lineage, with images that make the argument that India’s tradition of painting is among the greatest in the history of art.

➡️ Nirbhay Nirgun
The fearless, nirbhay, and the formless, nirgun: this is the aspiration for the mind.
Nirbhay Nirgun is a concert celebrating Kabir’s philosophy and his plain-spoken wisdom through song, interspersed with discussion that contextualises the verses within today’s challenging socio-political climate.
Hindustani classical musicians Nimish and Avanti bring this journey to life through some of Kabir’s most iconic writing — settings immortalised by Kumar Gandharva and Madhup Mudgal, compositions by their guru Padma Shri Dr Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, and new compositions by Nimish himself.
The evening features original compositions conceptualised by Nimish Kaikadi and written by Avanti Patel. The performance will be led by Avanti Patel and Nimish Kaikadi on vocals, accompanied by Vishwajith Kini on harmonium, Vighnesh Kamath on tabla, and Shamdath Ravi on additional percussions.
