Sadly, we received some very heartbreaking 💔 news yesterday that Veteran Actor Donald Gibb passed away at age 71. Gibb was best known for his roles in films like “Bloodsport” & “Revenge of the Nerds”, but to the skateboard community, he was Jimmy Wilson’s Scarred up Security Guard in the movie “GRIND”. No matter what role he played, his goal was to always make people laugh and he never failed. Always delivering iconic lines that we still remember today including… “That’s A Big NO On Jimmy!!”. What’s most heartbreaking is that we won’t get to see Gibb reprise his role for the upcoming “GRIND 2” film. But what we can do is honor his memory every opportunity we get moving forward and that’s exactly what we’re gonna do. Thank you Donald for giving us so many laughs and special memories that we will remember forever.

I had the honor of casting him in GRIND, and from the moment he stepped onto set, he brought this incredible warmth, humor, and presence. He was truly a gentle giant who brightened every room, every scene, and everyone lucky enough to work with him. It’s moments like this that can have such a big impact on someone later in life. Bigger than we may even realize it at the time. Most of us remember that first time seeing somebody skateboard and being filled with such curiosity and intrigue 👀 over a piece of wood on 4 wheels 🛹. You can actually see that same mesmerizing 🤩 look on this kids face watching the skater. But the best part is the kid trying to mimic what he sees with the finger board he’s got on the ground. When this kid finally picks up a real board (Whether they remember this moment or not) one things for sure… this will be the moment that sparked it.

We need to get this kid a real board asap!!

It’s quite possibly the most important Birthday in Skateboarding today… it’s @tonyhawk ‘s Birthday 🥳 🎈🎂. The Birdman 🦅 himself turns 58 years old today but with the way he still rips, you would never know it. We could list off all his accomplishments and all the things he’s done for skateboarding over the years but instead we just wanted to relive his epic Battle Commander and remind ourselves why he’s the King… as if we needed a reminder. 😉

Almost 27 years ago to the day, the most monumental and historic trick to ever go down in the history of skateboarding was done by one man… And it’s his Birthday 🥳 today!! Wishing a very Happy Birthday 🎈to the Birdman himself - @tonyhawk 🦅 as we remember his most iconic trick from the 1999 X Games in San Francisco that literally rocked not just the skate world, but the sports world as a whole. From that moment on, skateboarding was launched into a completely different stratosphere and never looked at the same again. And for that… we thank you Tony!
