22 years of marriage! Lots can be said after 22 years together, but today I choose to celebrate here all the laughter God has given us over two plus decades together. @donna_stuart has always been able to make me laugh, and that has been a rare and precious gift over all these years. Our friend Gary Haugen says, “Joy is the oxygen by which we do hard things.” Donna and I have been able to do so many good, hard things together, and a big reason why is that she finds joy & creates joy all along the way. Praying that, if the Lord wills, you find someone who can bring rays of sunshine into even the cloudiest of days. Love you, babe! Happy Anniversary.

A lot of us are running on empty, looking for love from people and things who can’t fulfill the longing inside of us. But when you rest in knowing you are fully loved by God, you can stop being a drain and start being a fountain. You have a source, so you become a source to those around you.

Sometimes the way out isn’t what we expect. The very thing that feels counterintuitive might be the instrument of our rescue. The Cross looked like the end, but it became the beginning of our redemption. So even in the dark, we can bring our burdens to the Lord through prayer and trust that He is at work to redeem what we cannot.

If your mind feels full of chaos, fear, or anxiety, bring it to God in prayer. He’s still listening, and He’s still at work in your story.

What areas of your life have you stopped believing God will show up?

In Acts 12, the early church is earnestly praying while Peter sits in prison, but when God answers, they can hardly believe it. They were praying without fully expecting Him to move. And yet, God still answered.

Let this be your invitation today: don’t stop praying. Even when your faith feels small or uncertain, God hears you, and He is still at work in your story.

In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would come in power and that the gospel would move outward: from Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and ultimately to the ends of the earth. In Acts 1–7, we see that mission take root in Jerusalem and begin to spread into Judea. By Acts 8, the gospel breaks into Samaria and beyond, and God chooses an ordinary man named Philip to carry it forward.

From Philip's story, we see a stunning picture of God creating an opportunity and giving him the courage to take it. Could the same be true of us?

You don’t have to know everything to come to Jesus. You don’t have to have it all figured out to walk into church. Everyone starts somewhere, and the beauty of the grace of God is that He meets us where we’re at!

Selfishness, ego, and pettiness don’t make championship teams, and they don’t make healthy churches. Praise God for @nationalcommunitychurch, the other churches Pastor @ben_stuart_ highlighted in this week’s sermon, and so many more who are boldly proclaiming the name of Jesus and making a difference in Washington, DC!

We do not need a vague, undefined spirituality. We need the truth of God’s Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ. When we speak the good news about Jesus clearly, people find hope and life!
