it’s trans day of visibility.
normally i’d feel more excited about today and being visibly trans. living in tennessee amongst all the anti-trans legislature being passed and with recent events makes being visibly trans feel like a burden. while i will always hold pride in being the person i am, i hate that my trans family and i have to feel afraid at the uncertainty and the ‘what if’. i hate that we are planning/ considering fleeing. i hate that we feel afraid going to the grocery store alone or simply going to work.
check in on your trans friends. hug us a little tighter. love us a little louder.

when i first started hrt one year ago, i anticipated saving each packet. much to sky’s dismay, they suggested that would take up a lot of space and contribute to my hoarding tendencies so i settled on cutting a piece off each box to collect instead. 12 boxes and one injection later, i’m left with this to reflect on. the changes have been gradual so i haven’t noticeda drastic difference in my appearance but i do feel more at home in my body than ever.

say hello to Fern! she is one of 4,000 beagles rescued from a breeding facility in viginia where her life would’ve consisted of lab experimentation. inside of her left ear she has a tattoo that reads cmk-cpu (her serial number). she didn’t have a name for the first 8 months of her life. because she has only ever known life inside the walls of the facility, every experience she has with us is brand new. we are teaching her what toys are, how to eat out of a bowl, that the grass is safe to walk in and most of all, that she will not be hurt again. she has slowly been showing us that she is playful, silly, very cuddly and brave. we are so excited to see her blossom as she gains more trust in us.

it’s been one year since my top surgery!!!!
i’m confident to say that this first summer post-op has been the best of my life. i’ve gotten to experience so many things for the first time (comfortably and confident) and life has never been easier. i’ve gotten to feel the sun on my bare skin, the chill of standing under waterfalls and my favorite of course, feeling the softness of wearing a t-shirt with no barrier.
