<Displaced Spit Bowl> 🥖

小时候的我很不喜欢去外婆家，在山里黑漆漆的经常停电。外婆家没有冲水马桶，只有喜庆的痰盂来接住我的尿，在第二天公鸡打鸣的清晨才被处理掉。后来痰盂被家家户户淘汰了，却漂洋过海出现在了亚马逊上，被当作中国传统果篮以高价28.44刀售出。原来我们的命运很相似，在时代的潮流里出现在了不属于自己的地方，赚着还可以的工资，吃着不太好吃的白人饭。

I never liked visiting my grandma’s place as a child because it was deep in the mountains, with nights sometimes pitch dark due to frequent power outages. There was no flushing toilet at her house—only a festive-looking spit bowl to catch my urine, left untouched until the rooster’s crow in the morning. Over time, these spit bowls disappeared from households, replaced by modern plumbing. Yet, they found a new home across the ocean (on Amazon!), listed as “traditional Chinese fruit baskets” for $28.44 each. Turns out our fates are quite similar—ending up in places far from home, making a bit more money, and eating bland, unseasoned food.
