West African and Middle Eastern fusion 🇬🇭🇨🇮🇱🇧🫂🙌🏿
Tatale and claclo are plantain based dishes made with various spices, onions and flour! This meal has been inspired by traditional recipes and paired with Levantine appetisers, baba ganoush and toum.
Would you try this fusion? ^_^

The dynamism of the city versus the serenity that the natural world brings is something I often talk about with friends and family. These spaces are put in opposition but I feel they reflect the complexity and fullness of life.
Thank you for watching my first short film. I hope you enjoy it, and resonate with it somehow 🌱🧎🏿♀️

Along with the end of the year, we’ve finally come to the end of the eclectic food series 🥬🍟
For the third (and final) episode I decided to make a fast food fusion meal, Kapsalon.
Originating from Rotterdam, this dish has come about in 2003 by a Cape Verdean hairdresser named Nathaniël Gomes, desiring to eat a hearty dish full of all the ingredients he was craving. He asked his local kebab store to serve him a meal with fries, shawarma meat, melted gouda cheese, salad, garlic sauce and sambal. (Un)intentionally resulting in the blending of immigrant cultures, creating something one of a kind.
Instead of using potato fries, I decided to use yam, sweet potato, plantain and suya (kankankan) spices as an ode to the west African food staples, further adding to the multicultural aspect of the dish.
Hope you enjoy 🫂❤️

Afro-eclecticism, an immersive experience pt 2: *common unity* 🫂
In June I invited close members of my community for a dining experience. I’m blessed to be surrounded by people of different cultural backgrounds, and with that comes diverse culinary experiences. For this immersive experience, I asked each guest to cook a meal from their culture and come prepared to mix these dishes with one another- compare flavours, spices and explore new fusions.
We indulged in Indonesian, Moroccan, Serbian, Senegalese, Caribbean and Ivorian food.

This was such an enjoyable experience, thank you to my lovely guest for coming 💌
Thanks @savannah.vanberkel for capturing some of these moment 🤓

Sounds of a lawnmower on a sunny day, smells of fresh green grass, wind flutters against my phone’s microphone, the harbour and hints of piss. Bye bye summer 💌
