I’ve read 15 books out of my 20 book goal for 2025, but only 3 of them have been over 500 pages.

Books I’ve read this month, February 2025:

1. “The Book of Doors” by Gareth Brown: Couldn’t resist a fantasy book about books. I ended up enjoying the premise. Technically started this in January but finished in February.

2. “The God of the Woods” by Liz Moore: I was intrigued by the cover art with the mysterious drip of pink. A story about a missing kid at a summer camp for the wealthy.

3. “A Little Life” by Hanya Yanagihara: I loved the way this was written, it was like slowly unfolding pieces of a map - a map of emotional devastation lol.

4. “The Spellshop” by Sarah Beth Durst: I read this as a cozy fantasy break from “A Little Life,” and it did not disappoint! The theme of kindness overcoming conflict was very uplifting, plus the book cover illustration and purple pages were beautiful.

Swipe to see the painting by Edward Hopper, “Morning Sun” (1952) which was my inspiration! Hopper was known for his introspective scenes of isolation, even in a busy city.

Increasing emptiness and isolation during a time when we’re technically more connected with other people and have access to more information - Hopper’s themes speak to me in the present day.

Books I’ve read this month, January 2025:

1. Go Tell it on the Mountain by James Baldwin: My first James Baldwin book! Can’t believe it was written over 70 years ago, since it feels like it could take place tomorrow. Looking forward to reading more of his work.

2. The Midnight Feast by Lucy Follet: Many character POVs, which was a lot of fun to read in a twisty thriller!

3. We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer: A Vancouver author! Yes I got scared reading this. Yes I went to the author’s Reddit account afterwards to read more of his creepy stories.

Grateful to @stillherestilllife x @__dennis__dennis for some inspiration when I’m low.

Also hi! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but I do want to try to work on personal projects more this year, so hopefully I’ll be posting more! I still use Tumblr and put my illustrations on there as well~
