Clocking in at 32k words, the manuscript is finished. I hope Dad would have been proud. Before he passed, he told me he wanted to read it.

Thank you everyone for the messages of condolence about my dad. I still plan to attend Stokercon as planned, and I am including my schedule here. I'm looking forward to all these events, including a reading slot which I will share with @tanya.pell and @mastersonc27. I'm looking forward to meeting them both in person.

This morning, we lost my dad. It was not unexpected, but it is still beyond devastating. Dad embodied the kind of strength of character I always tried to live up to. He was the reason I ultimately become an educator. Jerlin shares my grief. He was like a father to her, going back to when she was a teenager. I still have the mitt he used to play catch with me. I always loved it when we could spend time like that.
I’m in the home stretch on a novella he inspired by sharing an anecdote with me about a summer job he worked in Miami before starting his teaching job in the late 1960s. Assuming it gets published, it will carry a dedication to him.
