On December 30th, we decided to get our marriage license sorted out at the Old Orange County Courthouse so that by the time our big wedding in April rolls around, we can fully enjoy the moment without worrying about paperwork. We thought it was just going to be signing some documents and that’s it—but to our surprise, after signing, the clerk said, ‘Alright, now let’s head to the altar for the ceremony.’ 😅
We weren’t planning for any kind of ceremony and even told her that, but she explained it’s part of the process to make it official. Luckily, I had the random thought to wear a white dress that day—it wasn’t fancy, but at least it felt fitting! Tyler’s mom, dad, and sister were there to support us, which made the moment even more special.
So there we were, doing an impromptu courthouse ceremony. It was simple, unexpected, and unplanned, but also sweet in its own way. Now, we’re officially married, but we’re still looking forward to our big wedding in April with a beautiful ceremony, and a celebration with all our family and friends. Can’t wait to share that moment with you all!

Back when I went to Papua with WWF…
I had no idea I’d come home heartbroken.
The Bird of Paradise, the one I’d only ever seen in photos, was flying far above my head. Way up high. The locals told me they used to fly lower. Used to be braver.
Now they fly higher. Further away.
Because the forest keeps shrinking.
2.5 million hectares of Papua’s rainforest are being cleared. For palm oil. For sugarcane. For the fuel in our cars. The indigenous communities who have lived there for thousands of years were never asked.
I made sago with my own hands. Planted trees. Sat in classrooms with Papuan children. And I realized, everything I witnessed is under threat.
“This land is not empty. People were born and died here.”
Papua holds a very special place in my heart. And I hope after knowing this, it holds one in yours too.
Because if not us, then who?

every little thing you do,
not wanting to miss a second of you growing up.
One year later and you’re still the one I want to annoy for the rest of my life. Lucky you. Happy anniversary @drtylerbigenho 🤍
