What happened at the Islamic Center of San Diego was not an isolated act of violence. It was the deadly result of hatred and Islamophobia too often tolerated in this country. Three lives were taken. Families and a community are now left carrying unimaginable grief.

No one should fear violence in a place of worship. California must be clear: hate has no place here. We stand in solidarity with our Muslim neighbors in San Diego and across our state and nation.
