Now that Avatar Legends: Bending Academy #1 is finally out, I can share some of my favorite (spoiler free) spot pieces!

This spread of Jiyung, Sujun, Adaki and Aera training is one of my favorites. The team helped push me the dynamism of the poses here. I feel like it really captures each character's personalities as well, and I'm really happy with how the drapery in the designs adds to the action.

I'm also really fond of this ink brush and wash cleanup look I developed for the book. For my personal work, it's one of my favorite looks to go with. It definitely brought me back to being an ink artist on The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, and everything I learned from the amazing team on that project.

Game Quest book 3: GLITCH! ❄️ ⛄️ 🏔️ Of all of the GQ covers so far, this one is definitely my personal favorite.

Funnily enough, this was one of the first things I drew postpartum. For some reason, I had a really tough time drawing while carrying my son.My brain couldn't connect to what I was doing at all! This makes it hard to look back on work done while pregnant!

Any other artist with kids ever experienced this? :')
On that note, I'll be posting some more behind the scenes about the books in the new future.

And now for a confession...

So... Technically this came out 5 months ago, on October 21st, 2025... But I'm so terrible at using social media effectively. Watching 100 reels of puppies and kittens a day? No problem. Actually posting my work? I can aim for twice a year max.

BUT. I'm going to try and do better!

For those of you who reached out to tell me your kids were enjoying the series, thank you so much! It really means a lot. I hope to do more Game Quest books in the future, so watch this space! ⭐️ 💫 🌟

Today is the release day of Bending Academy Book #1! 🎉 Still in disbelief that I got to write and illustrate a book in the Avatar universe, having been a fan ever since I was a kid. I hope everyone enjoys following Adaki and friends as they train and battle their way through the Regionals tournament!

Earlier this year, the Scholastic team asked me to audition to write and illustrate GAME QUEST. I admittedly didn’t know what a chapter book was before they approached me, butI did my best and (with much help from my wonderful agent Paige!!) to my surprise and delight, was offered a 3 book deal! Thank you so much to @jenne_with_an_e and the team for this opportunity and to @pterlip for all your help. I’ve had so much fun on working on this series so far, & I can’t wait for it to debut at the Scholastic book fair 🥳 #publishersweekly

I watched Nimona recently and her line (paraphrasing) "If I don't transform, I'll die" really stood out to me. It's such an accurate way to describe gender dysphoria when your identity is fluid, and speaks to how both empowering and heartbreaking it can be.

Having taken a long healthy social media break, I haven't "publicly" spoken about my genderfluid identity. Attempts to pin down my identity to one binary felt restrictive and suffocating. It has been a long journey to understand and accept that my identity is in a constant state of flux and there is no way to predict how I'll feel from one day to the next.

Uncertainty can be scary, in myself and in how others will treat me in a public space. We recently had a floorer round who unfortunately was extremely transphobic. The safe space of our new house took a massive blow. I am still recovering from the trauma of this.

But outside of this pain, life moves on. The love and support of my family and friends empowers me. Things are always changing in myself and in my life. I have finally gotten to do my dream job and feel the most creatively fulfilled that I have ever been.

I hope to make some exciting announcements in the near future. Thank you to everyone for your support. Thank you, and all the best. ❤️
