Finnian Francis Mullen works with portraiture and uses photography as a way to capture the life around him. With a background in fashion and advertising, his work moves fluidly between commercial polish and raw personal expression. Mullen is drawn to the beauty in the bizarre, often seeking out the uncanny and the overlooked. His fascination with the complexities of the human form drives much of his practice, particularly through self-portraiture, which serves as a means of introspection and self-discovery. He would be simply lost without the photographic medium.

Rose Alexander is a Meanjin based multidisciplinary artist, whose practice spans film, painting, drawing and sculpture. Grounded in feminist worldbuilding, Alexander’s work focuses on connection to something higher than the self, through nature, catharsis and the exploration of inner worlds. Alexander’s video works explore collective emotional release through improvised performances, demonstrating the power within raw and meditative states of being. Her textile works speak to tactility, utilising experimental techniques such as distressing, handsewing and staining, while Alexander’s painting practice engages directly with her video work, rendering moments of film, creating a cyclical conversation between these mediums. Alexander weaves these throughlines together, integrating a multifaceted discipline into a practice that is devotional in nature.
She has exhibited in a range of group exhibitions including A Process To Worship with Vincent Smith at Wreckers Artspace, A Soft Place To Land (2024) at QCAD Webb Gallery, Snack Pop Up at the Institute of Modern Art. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in Sculpture at the Queensland College of Art and Design.
