My reconstruction of the Pahalgam attacks according to witness testimonies collected by @gaamuk and I a couple weeks ago for @thetimes. The attacks were devastating and very painful to hear about from witnesses. Thoughts & prayers with the families of all the victims.
The repercussions of the attack on Kashmir and Kashmiri people will be felt for a long time to come. Many Kashmiri first responders and attack witnesses like Nazakat Shah were responsible for saving the lives of tourists at the scene of the attack, including Adil Hussain, a Kashmiri Muslim who was killed in the attack. In spite of that many Kashmiris were targeted in the attack’s aftermath.
As one Kashmiri friend of mine told me, “everything is destitute” now in his once bustling town.

Last month a wave of Gen Z–led demonstrations across Nepal quickly turned into violent riots and what many now call the Nepal Revolution.
Prompted by a government social media ban, tens of thousands of young Nepalis flooded the streets of Kathmandu demanding change after years of corruption and political failure.
For years, Nepalis had watched the same political leaders cling to power while nothing changed. The children of the elite flaunted their privilege online as millions struggled to get by. When the government tried to silence dissent, it backfired — only heightening the anger and ultimately forcing the prime minister, KP Sharma Oli, to resign.
Honoured to have been part of this explainer for @thetimes. Many injured protesters are still hospitalised in Kathmandu - please donate to the gofundme in my bio if you can

Heading to the Himalayas over the next few weeks as part of the @thetimes_bursary to report on Tibetan exile communities - many of whom fled Tibet on foot many years ago, and are still living near the border with China, hoping one day to return home.
To this day Tibet remains under brutal Chinese occupation. Today it is almost impossible to enter or leave Tibet.
Reposting here a video I did for @thetimes on the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday in Dharamshala, India, where the Dalai Lama’s exile government is based.

Sheikh Hasina’s trial (in absentia) for crimes against humanity, a year on from the July Revolution in Bangladesh in which over a thousand protesters were killed. Hasina fled to Delhi and has not returned to Bangladesh to face justice under a legal framework codified whilst she was herself in power. She fears she may face the death penalty if found guilty. Wrote about India’s cybercrime epidemic for @thetimes - specifically the “digital arrest scam” in which citizens are held “digitally hostage”, and kept under “e-investigation” for days or even months on end.
