And that’s a wrap! A fitting finish to our #UKREiiF with a stimulating, and at times provocative, panel discussion with Ruairi Kelly from Glasgow City Council, Holly Lewis from We Made That, Prof. Gary Clark of HKS, Inc., Suzy Jones from Urban Splash and AT Editor Isabel Allen. A great way to support the regenerative movement with UK Architects Declare and celebrate the practices, developers and public authorities doing the right thing - all together under one roof.
And all topped off with a lunch (where the debate continued) with supporters and members of the regenerative architecture index where we could unwind after a packed few days. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us!

🌍 Tomorrow at Futurebuild 2026: a conversation on where regenerative architecture goes next...
Architecture Today and UK Architects Declare are bringing the Regenerative Architecture Index to the Main Stage for a live session exploring how regenerative principles are being translated into practice across the built environment today.
📍 Excel London
📅 Wednesday 13 May
🕑 13:45–14:45
🎤 Main Stage
Joining the panel:
• Anna Liu ARB RIBA FRSA, Tonkin Liu - on co-evolving with nature and designing with living systems as collaborators
• Laura Baron, Purcell - on stewardship, climate responsibility and being “good ancestors”
• Jan Kattein, Jan Kattein Architects - on creating just spaces for people and regeneration as a social as well as environmental act
Laura Baron, AD Steering Group member and Head of Sustainability at Purcell, said:
"The Regenerative Architecture Index, now in its third year, is an inspirational shift in how we recognise good design, celebrating projects and practice that don’t just aim for sustainability, but actively restore and replenish our environment. This year’s Regenerative Design in Practice session at Futurebuild I’ll be joined by other frontrunners of last years’ RAI, Jan Kattein Architects, and Tonkin Liu, inviting all built environment professionals to reimagine their practice and the places they create as positive contributors to our world, moving beyond reducing harm, to actively promoting solutions that help us collectively thrive."
Chaired by Isabel Allen, the discussion will connect ecological reciprocity, long-term custodianship and social equity — and explore how those ideas can actively shape architecture, retrofit and regeneration in the years ahead.
If your work touches retrofit, regeneration, circularity, social value or climate resilience, this conversation will leave you with plenty to think about.

Architect Peter Aldington has passed away aged 93.
"His houses remain relevant in taking place, tradition, landscape and the basics of building to create a timeless architecture," writes john pardey (@johnpardey_jpa) as he reflects on the life and work of Aldington, whose modest but deeply influential body of houses fused modern design with the English picturesque, creating an architecture rooted in place, craft and landscape.
Such was their commitment to this approach, the Aldingtons established the Turn End Charitable Trust, now @turnendtrust. This educational trust promotes the integration of building and garden design, with Turn End as a prime example.
