The month of June in the Longplayer 2025 calendar features the work of interdisciplinary artist, multi-instrumentalist, teacher and Longplayer Trustee, Ansuman Biswas @ansuman.b

Since their first meeting in 2000, Ansuman and Jem Finer, Longplayer’s composer, have had many adventures in sound and silence. They first appeared together in zero gravity, two slightly inept trainees of an ancient mystic sect to quote their promotional material.

In spring of this year, Ansuman trained 36 musicians in the performance of a 1000 minute section of Longplayer’s 1000 year long score. On the 5th April at the @roundhouseldn Ansuman conducted and played alongside an intergenerational orchestra which included his children, @oshinbiswas and @umabiswas_ - staging a meeting in resonance between current and future custodians.
