It's Oscar weekend. Which means I can finally move on from racing to try and watch as many 2025 films as I can before the entirely arbitrary date I set as my 'end of year' marker. I think it's been a pretty fun year. Nothing on this is really a radical take. I think I maybe like Jay Kelly more than most people, but that's it really. On a more personal level I think it's been interesting to look through the diary to realise I both fully fell out of love with movies and then maybe found myself going back to church before the year ended. That's not really new anymore. I'm getting older, and I guess it's silly to assume I will continue to feel uncomplicated love for the medium that is both my one true love and the dark coffin I have to spend the rest of my life in.

A film I worked on is making its rounds. After screenings in New York it’s finally made its way home to Mumbai.

Worked as both an editor and a colourist on this one a little over a year ago. And they say elephants have a long gestation period, clearly they haven’t accounted for independant filmmakers.

I have a splitting headache so I’m not going to spend too long trying to come up with a perfect caption. In ways sort of hard to explain this ended up becoming one of the more meaningful ones.

A little while ago, I found myself sitting with @anshulikadubey1227 , deep in thought. Amidst the writing, consulting, pitch deck preparations, and the chaos of raising funds,occasionally finding some joy in doing my plays like always .. I realized how much I missed what I loved so much—being on set, and directing a simple short film with a team i would love to work with.
I had written something a while back that we thought we could bring to life quickly. We chalked out a budget—something that wouldn’t make us rethink a thousand times about how to recover the costs. This wasn’t just about making a film; it was about investing in an experience we could all have fun with.
I called @storiesbyswati , who instantly came on board as the cinematographer with a smile, my dear friend @suhaas.ahuja happily said, “Let’s do this,” and so did @suruchiraindrop @anotherashwin offered to edit with no second thoughts. @kartikkshah created incredible music, and @jeremiahderozario lent his voice beautifully—all of them joining in with smiles, without a single concern about the money involved.
They didn’t see what our budget was or what they would make in this—they saw a couple of people trying to bring something of their own to life, and they leapt in with faith and excitement, they saw a chance of collaborating with interesting simple like minded people who believe in their own stories and are putting in whatever they can to make their own work happen..❤️
And now, here we are, with ‘Let Him Go’ ready to make its way into the world.
Premiering at @cineshortspremiere on March 13th and soon heading to several platforms.
Can’t wait for you all to see it!

Skipped this last year because i was trying to stay off this app (which I still should) but since Im here now anyway.

I think after how good a year last was in terms of new releases (and maybe just life) this year has felt like a bit of a letdown. But truth is theres a bunch of good stuff mixed in with a host of so so stuff.

Abd i hate thst way back in april I essentially called my favourite film of the year and and nothing could quite reach those lofty hights.

I’ve not been on here in a while and have fully forgotten how it works. And as is traditional to me anyway… this post is going to be partially much too late.

In the last few months I’ve had the lovely opportunity to work with a couple of lovely musicians on their videos.

The first was with @amritramnath near the end of last year on Kaadhal Alaipayuthey. And now with @amiragill on Always.

Dropping this and leaving before I have to soak in this cesspool any longer. Oscars this weekend which means it's the day I follow a tradition that brings nobody (including me) any joy anymore.

However here it is. It's a nice year for big movies, I think. It's possible I just didn't watch enough small ones.
