It's interesting how you take a photo with a story in mind and when you share it with an audience, it generates many many many meanings, reactions and interpretations you never saw coming.
And I think that was the best part in my just concluded photo exhibition at the Abuja Photo Festival. To listen to the audience share their feelings, experiences, and meanings. And watch them too, react differently.
Some were inspired, others, disturbed, petrified, sad, restless. Some saw terror, others saw beauty. Some couldn't stare, others kept coming back to look again and again, bringing their friends with them. Some had so much to say, others couldn't find the right words to describe their feelings.
This duality of reactions puzzled me so much. Different perceptions. Different realities. But all in all, everyone "felt" something and that was quite fulfilling and deeply humbling.
Many thanks to the @abujaphotofest for this opportunity to share and connect. My heart is indeed overflowing with gratitude.
I left with a renewed understanding of photography and more than inspired to keep telling stories.

I had the most surreal weekends with "Enyo," a film I made pouring everything in me winning the Viewer's Choice Award at the just concluded @s16filmfestival.
But not only that, it was also having my core collaborator on the film and past winner of the 2022 edition @bichopcblunt present the award to me.
Somehow I think the journey to making Enyo, down to the very moment the award was presented seems highly divine and magical.
Prior to the screening, I was super nervous as it was the first time I would be seeing the film with an audience but watching how much it was warmly received with a loud cheer got me grinning from ear to ear. One of the highlights was overhearing people analyze the film in small groups and also getting to share the whole process of making the film with the audience.
I appreciate everyone who went on this journey with me, to my cast and crew who worked really hard. I'd say one of the highlights of telling this story was the level of collaboration I had with my team. We were so in sync and it felt so special.
I also appreciate the @s16filmfestival for the opportunity to share Enyo, alongside other incredible films. It was such a beautiful experience.

Indeed, there's time for everything - a time to create and a time to share the fruits of such creation.
I’m beyond honored to announce that my latest film, Enyo, will be having its first premiere at the S16 Film Festival this December.
For years, I’ve admired the @surreal16collective, their works, and their commitment to celebrating cinema as an art form. So, to have my work showcased alongside other incredible African films is an honor I deeply cherish. Thank you, @s16filmfestival for this selection.
The journey to Enyo has been such a transformative one. It took two years of writing, rewriting, finding the perfect translators for this story, working and sharing ideas with my collaborators, flowing with the tide, and allowing the universe to direct me to the right source that will inspire me more. And most especially, raising funds for the film.
Indeed, the whole process of making the film felt like a pregnancy journey - conceiving an idea, nurturing it, and finally birthing it.
Now that Enyo is here, I warmly invite you to meet my "newborn" at the S16 Film Festival, running from December 10th to 13th. I hope you make it a date 😉
Finally, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this film.
Just like a pregnant woman needs to rely on her loved ones for support, I leaned on these wonderful souls and they never let me down. Thank you for believing in this story, trusting the vision, running along with it, and finally helping me bring it to life.
I'm deeply grateful.
In the coming days, I'll be sharing more details about Enyo and also releasing the official trailer.

Early February, I was at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival @lecourtclermont with other Nigerian delegates. I was under the Talents Connection program to pitch my next short project, "Immaculate."
Even as I had been developing the film, sharing my vision as truthfully as I could with such a large audience made me nervous at first. 😅
It's not that I didn't trust what I had to say. It's just, somehow, your voice feels safer when you're in familiar spaces. But you have to grow and move forward.
I'm happy with how the whole experience strengthened my confidence, especially with the story as it's deeply personal.
The room was warm, with a calm energy and the audience was eager as I was to hear me out. So, I had fun. Great fun. Easy peasy, even. It felt like speaking to friends. Last slide was how light I felt after my pitch. ☺️
Many thanks to @s16filmfestival and @franceinnigeria for such an eye-opening opportunity. And to @ramakagaye for his guidance in prepping for the pitch.
Back to work I guess. I'm looking forward to making this film under the @hikigaliprod.
