Alex
Animator and illustrator
I primarily do 2d animation, but I love all types!
I also love storytelling and comedy!
My character motivation at the exhibition! I'm so glad I finished it so it could be there, it was my first proper animation and I learned a ton working on it, I appreciate the experience so much and i'm really excited to build on everything I learned. I included the turn around and some quick poses I made for my character, these are always super fun, I love the whole process!

A few more observational drawings from class, I really enjoyed experimenting with colour and medium here, I used oil pastels for the cactus but I had limited colours and it was really fun to figure out how I could still portray the cactus the way it was with the colours I had, I think it turned out pretty good in the end! And drawing flowers is always so calming

These are some observational drawings based on a dance video, these classes were some of my favorite! I really love capturing different human positions with limited time, I love using big strokes and making really cool gestures

This is the concertina I made early in the year, I didn't submit it to the exhibition but I still like how it looks, I tried water colour and while I'm not sure how well it turned out, I loved experimenting with it and I also loved using the alcohol markers. Going forward I want to continue to try and draw in the loose lined style I used for the first couple drawings

My squirrel loop on display at the public exhibition! I included some of my original thumbnail drawings on paper, I always do thumbnails super rough and its basically just thinking through drawing, I got this idea from a real life experience visiting Westminster and it was great seeing it at the exhibition.

This is from the beginning of the year when we animated a kind of zoetrope! I guess you could say this is my first animation ever, really took me back seeing it on screen. I wasn't sure how to do anything back then but I just drew whatever came to mind and it was quite relaxing
Here is the walk cycle I made on screen at the public exhibition! It was so great to see all the characters moving together! If I had known the background would be black I'd probably have changed the colours on my character slightly but still, the walk parade was so cool and everyone's designs looked amazing put together!

This is the walk cycle I made for the walk parade! It's my first full finished across the screen walk cycle, I think it could have had a few more in betweens but I like how the weight is portrayed. Next time I think I'm going to try incorporating more side to side movement in the shoulders and hips

I have a harder time drawing muscles so I'm always appreciative when I get the chance in life drawing to do so, the session with the male model was set up with different lighting positions so it gave us a chance to practice with shading which I definitely need! I hope we can do more lighting sessions in the future

A few drawings from the life drawing sessions from the past couple weeks! I decided to try out using a brush pen since I've wanted to do that for a while, I find it more nerve wracking using ink since you cant really cover big mistakes, I enjoyed using it though and definitely will more in the future, especially with more colours

An Animade I made in animation society! My friend had brought an axolotl plush with them so i decided to animate it jumping in and out of frame, for the amount of frames I think it turned out fairly well! We had some art supplies available to us so I decided to use pastels for the colour, in retrospect I would have used something different for the line art if I had planned that, but still I think its not bad.

30 second drawings are my favorite! Sometimes I feel like I have nothing to add in 15 minute one, and having only 30 seconds means bolder line work decisions
