Strøm & Musikforeningen Kapellet offer week-long residencies in their Cph-based studio to local music producers.

The studio is jam-packed with vintage electronic instruments & studio equipment, and at the end of October, Hilo Sound - a Danish audio design studio working with vibroacoustic sound systems, spatial experience design, and body-felt music - enjoyed a residency at the location.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨?
Harvesting samples from the vintage synth collection & creating analog effect chains. The goal was to capture sounds from rare gear that’s almost impossible to find. The process was simple: Find a good synth pad, patch it through hardware FX, & record jams with a focus on meditative, ambient soundscapes.

We also explored the studio’s impressive vinyl collection and library of books on music and club culture – which was inspiring both sonically and intellectually. Sonic Intimacy by Malcom James was right down our alley.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤’𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤?
After our time in this synthesizer sanctuary, we ended up with a solid library of recordings ranging from one-shot samples to ten-minute jams. From that, we cut loops for our Hilo ambient production toolkit & live performance setup – feeding directly into our ongoing work with ambient & vibroacoustic music.

𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞?
The KORG Triton had a fantastic selection of motion pads in its vast preset banks – perfect for ambient soundscapes & vibroacoustic textures. The PRO ONE was great for its hands-on control & powerful analog bass. Overall, the machines that combined movement, texture, and space worked best for our sound as architecture dogma.

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?
A selection of ambient soundscape loops & an Ableton Sampler preset that generates generative pads even from short samples – along with a small vocal recording of a poem called “Copenhagen 5 AM.”

Finnisage Concert for “SYMBIOSE” installation in Sneglehuset

To mark the ending of our exhibition period for the installation “Symbiose” in @sneglehuset_thyboroen , we made a live performance improvising with the sounds from the installation. Due to high demand, we had to do an extra show on the night of the finnisage. Locals were invited to feel vibroacoustic sound in an artistic setting and experience what to them is a well known story in a completely new way.

The piece draws inspiration from the surrounding Western Sea, weaving in the natural sounds and ambient moods, while telling the love story behind Sneglehuset—built by a local fisherman for his wife.

Our setup transformed shells and stones, found on the beach and kindly lent to us from Sneglehusets impressive collection, into playable instruments, creating a truly unique, immersive sonic experience.

A huge thank you to Nykredit Fonden for making this possible with their generous support. Thanks to their donation, Sneglehuset now hosts a permanent vibroacoustic installation—so anyone can come and experience this work in its full vibrational glory.

A great dancefloor is built on mutual appreciation—of the sound, the space, and the people in it. Animmac believes that everything spirals through the night, and the way we engage with the music and each other shapes the experience for everyone.
As DJs, the role isn’t just about selection but about setting the tone for respect and inclusion. And as dancers, it’s simple: listen to the music, move your body, and bring good energy.
His set will be available on SoundCloud soon.

Dancefloor Manners #2 🖤

For the second episode of Dancefloor Manners, we’re bringing you none other than the sweetest DJ out there – Animmac. Personally selected not just for his impeccable taste in music but also for his big heart, this one is extra special.

Animmac’s set is a peaktime techno floor vibe with groovy undertones and creative blends. Expect a journey through old and new, with standout moments like Robert Hood’s Detroit minimalism weaving seamlessly into Antix’s trance beats on Sell Your Doll. And to top it all off, a massive shoutout to @hyperion_otaku Orbit, whose final track in the set is a certified floor igniter.

Tune in on today, March 21st 6:30-8 pm, for the premiere, or catch the rebroadcast on March 28th. Let’s turn up the heat!

Levitation is a mixtape designed to guide you through the depths of your soul. Bottom scraping bass drones sends your body into resonance while your mind is swept in cool dreamy pads and generativ melodies. Theres also some handy information about AI’s playing games. The mixtape is composed by pieces of several sound journeys and showcases the sound design talents of Animmac in the 0-bpm zone.

Listen on your couch, on a walk through the forest or replace the city noise with soothing sound scapes and enjoy the peace!

Hello world. This is the first release in a series of albums I will share with you during the next 12 months. The series will consist of all the tracks I made during the last 6 years - original content never seen before. “Slugzontape” is a gritty journey through the jams I recorded on tape when I lived in Haderslev studying sound design. The tracks are very personal, which is why they were kept secret for so long. I invite you todig into the history of Animmac and Im looking forward to sharing this series with you! Link in Bio :)

Im BuZZiiiin’!!!
This is my first official release in a long time and its alongside one of my top favorite beatmakers @shatter_hands !
I grew up on the country and when the beats sarted coming out of my fingers i knew i had to go to Copenhagen to find and meet my soundcloud heroes. 8 years later im now putting out this EP and means the world to me.
I fell in love with Chicago Footwork in 2015 and succesfully landed my self in the smallest music niche i ever found.
The danish footwork community could be countes on one hand back then. It has grown a lot since and is at least doubble digits now. Feeling totally off at times asking myself the question: “why do you feel so passionate insisting on making music no one is asking for?”
Now i know that its not the demand but the passion that needs to drive artistic expression and let that serve as inspiration to anyone who doubt themselves!
I put the invitation for the CPH in my bio along with the link to the album.
If you are reading this its means you are supporting me in living the dream and therefore you are warmly welcome to the release party.
Big thanks to @ouvo.rec for releasing with us and @birdhouse_2400 and @bolsjefabrikken for having us!
