As a habitual sad-songwriter 🙋🏻‍♀️, we tried to write a love song that felt “good” this time. && Ofc André created the sweetest guitar arrangement for a song about falling for something real, safe, —and at the same time exciting, electric and fresh like citrus 🍋✨💖

All of my 20s I was someone who has been slow to show all my cards, and would act coy/unimpressed when dating, when inside the butterflies were doing pirouettes and felt like an outpouring of sparkles and rainbows 😆 and FOR WHAT??

It’s been officially one week since Bad Guy Parade was released and our first sweet lil show as this project 🥹💖 How are we feeling about it?!

The backstory behind this song stemmed from a deep conversation with a close friend who vowed they were never going to let anyone get close again after getting royally f**cked over and abandoned by someone they loved. They said being in love wasn’t worth it because everyone will leave you in the end. A bitter (but understandable) take right after a catastrophic life event like that.

Honestly, it broke my heart to see someone I cared about so much going through such heartache. We talked for a while about how it can be so f**cking hard, but is such a radical, beautiful, quiet rebellion to stay soft, open and kind in the face of a world that can be so cold and harsh. And that healing takes time, but it’s worth it to keep loving. 💕🫶

So I envisioned a scenario where someone falls in love, like the good real “here-to-stay” kind of love, but is struggling with not turning into the “bad guy” they were so afraid of encountering.

I think we put up shields so often because we think we’re protecting ourselves from pain, but in the end we are just robbing ourselves of real joy and deep connection. Laying down our armor and showing our cards is the most human thing we can do. It’s where we can find our people, and the places we belong. 👽✨💖
