Next week, for the 32nd year, the #amfARCannes Gala will return to the French Riviera. Since our founders Elizabeth Taylor and Mathilde Krim started hosting this iconic event to fundraise for biomedical research to combat HIV/AIDS, this celebration has been a crucial source of support for amfAR’s lifesaving mission. Take a first glimpse of what’s sure to be a star of this month’s #amfARCannes Gala auction: the first watch ever created by world-famous artist George Condo, crafted in collaboration with Audemars Piguet, one of Switzerland’s premier watchmakers. This bespoke timepiece is the inaugural in a limited series consisting of only five watches in total.

As Condo himself said: “The watch is one of the most exquisite works of art that exists on the planet, and not because it’s of my painting, but because of the precision craftsmanship, adding jewels to the letters of my name, clouds in white gold with planets, and turquoise showing each side of the globe.” See it at the link in our bio.

Decades of research, including amfAR-funded studies, have produced extremely effective treatments for HIV/AIDS. When taken as directed, antiretroviral therapy (ART) can reduce the amount of HIV in the blood to undetectable levels and enable the body’s immune cells to rebound to normal levels. The number of AIDS-related deaths in the U.S. has dropped dramatically because of widely available, effective treatments. However, even when people respond well to ART, it does not cure HIV. And while today’s ART can dramatically improve the health and well-being of people living with HIV, they may still face long-term side effects from treatment, such as heart disease and other disorders.

We’re thrilled to announce Academy Award-winning actor @geenadavis as host of this year’s #amfARCannes. The acclaimed actor, author, and producer is a tireless advocate for women & girls, founding the @geenadavisorg to increase the amount of female and diverse characters in film and TV.

Davis will join us for an evening of philanthropy, unforgettable performances, and fundraising to combat HIV/AIDS and support lifesaving biomedical research.
