This is a new one for the Taproom 👹

Dark historian Andrew Johnston of @alternativeulstours is coming in to talk Irish mythology, demons, fairies, harbingers of death, the usual.

The Banshee, the Dullahan, the Púca. Centuries worth of things that go bump in the night, all over a pint.

£15 per ticket or £20 to include a pint. Sounds like a decent Tuesday to us.

More details and ticket link in the bio.

💉 THE DOCTOR IS SIN! 💉

A fortnight today until Andrew takes to the stage of the @limelight.belfast again with another shocking true crime tale.

DID YOU KNOW…

The humble County Antrim village of Randalstown spawned a man who may well be Britain and Ireland’s worst ever serial killer? 😱

With a body count of potentially up to 400 victims, John Bodkin Adams makes Dr Shipman look like Dr Dolittle. 🩸

Come along on Thursday 28th May and get all the gory details and many rare images from what was described in the 1950s tabloids as the ‘murder trial of the century’. 📰

Andrew is bringing Ulster’s Doctor Death: The Killer Case of John Bodkin Adams to the @edfringe in August, so this is your chance to see the full show before it hits Auld Reekie.

Book an appointment with the not-so-good doctor today! 🎟️

We took a road trip today to Errigal Truagh Medieval Church & Graveyard in County Monaghan.

This magnificent old burial ground features in two of our talks. Eerieland includes the tale of the graveyard’s parasitic ’demon lover’, as recorded in William Carleton’s poem The Churchyard Bride. 👻

Carleton’s poem is said to have inspired Bram Stoker during the writing of Dracula, which we cover in our Vaimpír talk.

Stoker is known to have visited Errigal Truagh several times and been transfixed by the eerie vaults and sinister stone slabs. 🪦

What a great night at the Hilton Belfast for the first staging of @nornconbelfast, Belfast’s new science fiction, fantasy and horror convention.

Massive appreciation to Tommy and Trevor for booking us, and to everyone who darkened our little corner of the hotel to hear about bad old Burke and Hare! 💀

We’re so chuffed the convention was a success. Belfast can never have too much of this sort of thing. Bravo! 👏
