Housing Week 2.0 is a wrap!

Last week, Abigail, along with our partners at @msa_professional_services, was out in @cityoflacrosseofficial alongside the City staff, @habitatlacrossearea, Couleecap, and other collaborators, hearing directly from residents about the future of housing and the Forward La Crosse zoning code update. From panels, pop-ups, and walking tours to cool zines, this community knows how to talk about all things housing. Proud to be part of it. 🏠

Next up: get to know Alicia, a Chicagoan, planner, connector, and big picture visionary! She’s All Together’s Engagement Intern and Bilingual Interpreter—supporting marketing and communications, community engagement workshops, and design materials. She loves coffee, chic wardrobe pieces, and impromptu outings with friends.

Some things you might not know about Alicia: she was a talent buyer in Chicago’s music scene, and frequented concerts so much that at one point, she averaged going to ten shows a week. Reflecting on the best performances she’s been to, Parquet Courts at The Vic Theatre is one of her all-time favorites. You might also not know that she loves giving local recommendations, and made a fantastic Google Map marking spots everyone ought to visit.

As we champion women every month here at All Together, Alicia wants to put the spotlight on one of her favorite female artists, Ana Mendieta. An iconic interdisciplinary artist, Mendieta’s work centers on the earth and the body. Ana Mendieta is prolific, and her art further deepened Alicia’s connections with colleagues at a creative, week-long POCOAPOCO workshop that marked her transition from the arts & music realm to urban planning.

Exploring Detroit and meeting friends across the planning world at NPC was a dream! We loved reconnecting with clients and colleagues and learning from planners across the country.

National Planning Conference is such an incredible place to find the throughlines between communities. From Anchorage, Alaska, to NYC, we were excited to learn about the housing and zoning challenges they face.

We loved sharing the process and value of comics as communication tools with our friends from @city_of_boise and @andyharvest!

Rachael led a conversation about our Boise Illustrated Zoning Guide and became an instant celebrity as she gave out copies of the comic book and stickers. We wish we had more comics to give away. Until next time, @americanplanningassociation!

200+ stakeholders. 7 months. One countywide call to action.

Between July 2025 and February 2026, All Together, along with our partners at @cmapillinois and SBF, brought together municipal leaders, developers, employers, nonprofit partners, and resident advocates across @lakecountyil came together to tackle a challenge too big for any one community to solve alone: the housing crisis.

The result is the Housing Lake Coalition's Call to Action: a roadmap built on four foundational pillars that will create more housing for all: Policy & Regulatory Reform, Funding & Financing Tools, Partnerships & Development Capacity, and Communications & Education.

Thank you to our friends at @motionsource for capturing this work. Catch the full video on our LinkedIn!

We traded our desks for planes, trains, and automobiles this April. 🌍 Our team was everywhere—meeting clients, launching projects, and squeezing in a few good stories along the way.

📍Abigail headed to Las Vegas for a site visit with partners and came home with new friends (and a limo story—What Happens in Vegas!).
📍Kristian crossed the border to Vancouver for the 2026 City Nation Place Conference—and snuck in a boat ride back from dinner and shopping on Granville Island.
📍Grace & Rachael traveled down to Normal, Illinois, to close out our Pedestrian & Roadway Campus Safety Initiative (and may have used engagement supplies to address car troubles along the way…)
📍Abigail took the Green Line to the 2026 Movers and Shakers Ball to celebrate years of sustainable transportation with our collaborators all over the state
📍Rachael & Kristian went to Golden Valley, Minnesota, to kick off an exciting new rebranding project.
📍Grace made her way to NW Indiana for an Elevate Porter County Steering Committee meeting.
📍Abigail headed north to Lake County for Lake County Partners’ The Big Event, cheering on the county and showing up for our Housing Lake Coalition partners.
📍 Robin, Rachael & Kristian took a discovery tour of Matteson, Illinois, as we launched the Historic Downtown Matteson branding initiative.
📍 Grace, Alicia, and Abigail led pop-ups in Bridgeport for the new CASL Community Hub.

April kept us moving in all the best ways. More adventures incoming! 👀

Next up: meet Robin, a designer, illustrator, and neighborhood storyteller! She believes every community has a visual language waiting to be found and is eager to discover it.

Some things you might not know about Robin: she's a past architecture student, which is where her interest in urban planning began. She's also someone who chases storytelling in every form: acting classes, reading meaningful fiction, new music, choir, you name it. You might also not know she relocated to Chicago in the past year. She’s gotten to know it the best way she knows how: on long walks she calls “urban hikes” around different neighborhoods when she’s not at home with her new kitten.

At All Together, Robin brings all of this curiosity to brand identity exploration, hand-drawn typography and illustration. She loves to weave neighborhood history and cultural nuance into effective visual communication.

Her favorite female artist is Adrianne Lenker, the vocalist and songwriter of Big Thief. Robin is drawn to Lenker's soft confidence and deep intuition, qualities that come through whether in her quiet, poetic indie folk solo act or the more raw, electric alternative rock with the band. Robin couldn’t be more excited to see Adrianne and Big Thief in August.

Abigail and the @wpdchicago board spent last Saturday at Pullman National Historical Park touring the museum, walking the neighborhood, and taking in the history of one of Chicago's most iconic planned industrial communities, famed for its urban design and architecture.

A big highlight for our team: seeing the brand identity Marisa and Rachael developed with @friendsofpullman come to life throughout the park.

Next up: Isra Fakhruddin! A dedicated creative, landscape designer, planner, and the person who seeks to make your neighborhood feel like home. Isra's work is rooted in the memory of place, and she brings a deep commitment to community-driven design that honors the social, cultural, and environmental soul of spaces she encounters.

Some things you might not know about Isra: she once (very) briefly had her sights on becoming a museum curator, and has since channeled that same curatorial spirit into finding ways to preserve her family's heritage through collecting recipes and old photos. Something you probably do know: she is a total jewelry lover and will absolutely stop mid-conversation to ask where you got your earrings.

Isra is a longtime fan of Heleena Theodore (@heleenatheodore), a UK-based painter, illustrator, and tattoo artist whose work draws from South Asian artistic tradition; think striking Mughal profiles, rich iconography, and intricate floral patterns. In fact, Isra owns several pieces of her artwork, because they bring her the inspiration she needs to keep doing what she does.

More housing equals change, and change is hard.

Last month, we joined housing advocates and Evanstonians to celebrate the approval of 605 Davis Street — a new residence that will add nearly 400+ homes for people of all ages and life stages.

We partnered with Vermilion Development and Campbell Coyle to tell the story of what Evanston actually needs: more homes, more affordable options, and more neighbors supporting downtown businesses.

We built a clean, approachable brand for 605 Davis and a website that educated the public on the project and the true impact it would have (no fear, just facts). We also developed a clear, direct call to action and a way for supporters to connect directly with their local leaders.

Now, 605 Davis will become the address of longtime residents ready to downsize without leaving their community or students just getting their start. 605 Davis will create more foot traffic for local businesses while exceeding affordability and green building requirements.

Change is hard, but a good communication campaign helps. We’re so excited to watch this corner come alive.

Spotlighting another AT powerhouse this Women's History Month: Abigail!

She’s our Senior Planner & Designer, organizational mastermind, and the person behind thoughtful homemade cards. Some things you might not know: she's a BIG fan of the Cubs (Fly the W!), TMNT, and treasure hunting on eBay. Something you probably do know: she has a knack for turning complex planning stuff into content that actually makes sense.

Abigail has always dug Laurie Simmons, the photographer. Her work is powerful, witty, and ever evolving. The dolls, mannequins, miniature sets, body paint, and so much more grab your attention, encouraging you to stop and think. If you don't know Laurie Simmons yet… get to Googling now.

Cowabunga, dude!
