Last year we started a new family tradition, getting out on the @docgovtnz Great Walks together. To celebrate Mum’s 70th this year, it felt like the right moment to tick off the Milford Track. Getting through the booking process was a mission in itself, but worth every refresh. Plenty of conversations about layers were had. As it turned out, we couldn’t have asked for better autumn conditions — crisp, bluebird days and with Ultimate Hikes wrapped up for the season at the beginning of April, we walked it with half the usual number of people on the track. Highly recommend. Milford bookings open tomorrow, and if you manage to nab a spot, happy to answer DMs on logistics. 🏔️

On Saturday night, I’ll be joining the ‘Style-ish’ line-up — 20 slides, 20 seconds each — sharing perspectives on what ‘style’ in architecture means in a city shaped by history, loss and rebuild.

There’s plenty to draw from, and rigorous banter will likely ensue. My take: The View from Up Here starts at our place.
