I am also beside myself to finally get to work with the legendary, Anita Jackson. Anita needs no introduction from me, but I heard her with another group several years back and have wanted to sing with her ever since — her voice, her presence, her mic technique... She’s just unreal and we’ve been having a ball together at rehearsal ❤️

A million thank you’s to everyone contributing to this event — the band, the arrangers, the venue, the chefs, the decorators, the rental companies, the service staff, etc. We are SO excited to play for you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My Laura Baby celebrates another birthday today, and so, we pause to celebrate all that she is. We gathered a handful of dear friends over the weekend to turn up and share some laughs, and in preparation for that, I put together a reel of photos. Not all of those need to be shared here, but I was struck by a few things looking back over these last ~10 years
•
The first is how much fun we continue to have together. We are surrounded by lovely, interesting, kind and hard working people. We have careers that are challenging and inspiring, and we work alongside folks that believe in and trust us, and look out for us and so forth. And the majority of our weeks are filled with friends and dinners and shows and travel and costumes and the list goes on
•
The second is the community of friends she established here independently — many of which have become some of my dearest friends. You see Laura immigrated to the US from Spain, and naturally, my group of friends was her first base when she arrived. She immediately became best friends with all of them. Hell, many of them like her more than me these days — which makes me laugh, but also gives me immense joy. But Laura didn’t stop there. She went out and met and connected with new people, and she built a community of people that I simply couldn’t imagine living without now
•
And the last piece that struck me is that she is exactly the same as when we fell in love. Literally, the exact same. While she may call out a wrinkle or other change in her appearance or spirit, I simply don’t see it. She looks the same. She feels the same. She plays the same. She loves the same. She laughs the same… She’s the same twenty-something I became best friends and then fell in love with ~10 years ago

I have likely crossed paths with tens of thousands of people in my life, and you, Laura, remain the most remarkable person I have ever known. I wake up with gratitude every single day for this life we share, and I hope we get another 40, 50, 60 years doing this thing side by side. Happy Birthday, Laura Baby — you are loved and respected and adored and cherished by everyone you meet ❤️‼️

My lovely parents celebrate another anniversary today. I haven’t a clue what number this is, but they make me proud every single day and they always have ‼️

They worked hard for my brother and I — to keep us safe and set us up for successful lives. They taught us to decipher right from wrong and strive to live accordingly, to care for and look out for friends and family and colleagues and neighbors, to live joyfully and make light of what can often times be a challenging and discouraging world, to believe in ourselves, to cook and eat well and travel and the list goes on. They didn’t always get it right, and neither have we, but immense effort was always there and what more could a child ask for
•
They became friends with our friends and developed meaningful relationships with as many of them as they could. I always thought that was so cool, and I hope Laura and I do the same with Alexander’s friends
•
They are kind and funny, thoughtful and giving, wise and out of their minds fun. They treat each other well and gave Stuart and I a tremendous, daily example of what a happy marriage can look and feel like. It’s been the gift of a lifetime to grow up with them, and I’ll take as many more years as they can fight to stay with us
