From all my conversations with friends, family, and clients, 2025 seemed to bring a lot of life change, grief, and challenges for many. LA has been through a lot. The country has been through a lot. In the midst of all of it, my husband and I bought this magical off market property in Leimert Park. When a few clients passed, I could not stop thinking about it. Worrying what an investor would do to it. It was this little beacon of joy and light for us. We bought it with plans to keep it forever. Rent it out, move my mother-in-law down here in a few years.I was delighted to be the steward to a perfectly intact 1930s Spanish in the community of Leimert where we've been in the area for 17 years.
Half way through the process we realized it may be best to finish the restoration and sell it. This realization came as a huge surprise to me. The added weight of being a landlord, the fear of the house getting damaged, realizing I wanted to simplify my life this year rather than add more to my plate. We thought about moving into it, selling our current place, but in the end I reframed what this house means to me. Why it came into my life . . . I'm very proud of what we did. This house was like another person in my life. I love it very much. Reflecting back on it, the actions we took felt like an act of rebellion in a never ending world of churn and burn flips. This wasn't supposed to be a flip. It was a rescue mission and a deeply felt love letter to South LA. I cried a lot about parting with it, but I am overjoyed with the wonderful buyers who have it now and I'm so thankful this house was in our lives even for a brief time.

This past week I had the honor of helping a family make some tough final decisions on over a century’s worth of family history. I met extended family, did some heavy lifting, and shared some beers as I heard more family stories, and we reflected on what a journey the last 7 months has been with this emotional sale. One of the most meaningful moments is when they said I’m not just their Realtor, but their friend. Real estate isn’t just the buying and selling of a structure. What that structure means, what it represents, and holds inside of it is intimate and emotional. Sometimes so intense it’s palpable. By the end you realize it’s not “goodbye” with your client, but “I’ll see you later.” I’m so honored every day a client trusts me to hold their hand.
Thank you to the Taylor Family for trusting @historic_realestate_la and I every damn day. Honored doesn’t nearly capture how I feel. This one will stay with me a long time.

Wonderful varying shades of green tile with some variegated field tile as the base and mint green as the bordering surround colored tile.Design liner tile provides contrast of black and yellow which matches the yellow vintage fixtures.
The floor continues this design with alternating hex green in a soccer ball pattern.You can see the craftsmanship of the original tile setters in the details of image #6.The continuation of the pattern around that corner perfectly matching is a master work.I also do love the tiny detail of the black line outline of the shower, I’m assuming it’s painted by the homeowner, Fantastic design detail 👏🏻
The vintage original fixtures look to be Kohler in color “Old Ivory”. The toilet model looks to be Kohler”Devon” with its original Porcelian handle and the tub looks to be “Cardinal”. No ID on the drop in as they usually didn’t include these in the old catalogs for some reason.
