Run With Us!

The 2026 TARC Calendar in all its glory! Which events will we see you at?
Our mission is to act as community stewards by providing equitable access to trail running and promoting positive trail running culture. We’re guided by the following principles:
Equitable Access: We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the outdoors and engage in trail running, and are committed to providing support and addressing barriers through low cost entry fees and scholarships, beginner friendly group runs, gear swaps, educational workshops, mentorship, and more.
Respect for Nature: We believe in promoting environmental stewardship by respecting and preserving the trails we run on and practicing Leave No Trace.
Environmental Sustainability: We aim to lead by example and keep the environmental impact low for all of our events through minimizing waste, recycling, composting, and reusing when possible.
Giving Back and Amplifying Impact: We aim to give back to the trails where we run, through trail maintenance and donating our event profits to land conservations and trusts, and emphasize giving back to the community by encouraging volunteer engagement.
Passion for Movement: We believe in the power of movement and trail running, and the benefits both have for one’s physical and mental wellbeing, and aim to spread our love for the sport amongst the local and global community.
Commitment to Community: We embrace camaraderie and friendship, fostering welcoming and supportive spaces for everyone to thrive and grow in their running journey. We actively seek to welcome diverse participants, including historically excluded groups, and view all people as part of our community. We work to cultivate, deepen, and grow community relationships with local groups that share our values.
Inclusivity and Support: We welcome people of all races, nationalities, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, ages, and abilities. We believe in club and trail culture that honors the diversity of life circumstances, identities, perspectives, and interests of our community members. We offer encouragement and provide support to each other on and off the trails.
There are so many hidden gems for the New England running community in this episode about @trailanimalsrunningclub (TARC)! We had the pleasure of interviewing @patrickccaron from the Trail Animals Running Club (based in Massachusetts) and the founder of @movefreedesigns .Pat, a professional mountain #ultra trail athlete, shared insights and stories from his impressive career and involvement in the trail running community.
✅ TARC’s Motto: “No Trail Animal Left Behind” illustratesthe inclusive nature of the club, where every runner, regardless of ability, is supported.
Key Highlights from the episode include:
* The TARC Stone Cat Trail Festival held in Willowdale State Forest in MA, from extinction.

Our goal since 1994 has been simple: connect people through trails. We currently have monthly runs at Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, Massachusetts, and Great Brook Farm State Park in Carlisle, Massachusetts, led by our Outreach team. We always embody the same "No Animal Left Behind" philosophy that the club has embraced since its founding, and we welcome you to join us. It's free, it's fun, and you'll make some good friends along the way. If you've ever been curious about running trails but aren't sure where to start, come and let us show you the way. All are welcome to our club!

Double Boston. My second running. This time, with some new and dear friends from Trail Animals and Mount to Coast. The double isn’t about one-upping those who run the marathon. There were people who ran over an hour faster and some who endured the 26.2 for several more hours. Both are impressive. The double marries two incredible aspects of running. The first marathon starts in the dark and stillness of early morning, and this year was a group of friends settling into a long run. Familiarity from daily early morning running. No clock, no fanfare. Pure running. The time in-between provides the opportunity to practice recovering. Something, as an ultra enthusiast, I find interesting. Systems checks. A few of my Trail Animals brethren opted to forego their earlier wave in order to start with me. Friendships forged on the roads between Boston and Hopkinton. As we crossed over the start line, I felt the tug of the Boston energy pulling me down the road. My goal is Hardrock, y’all know that, so tact was key. But Boston deserves respect. I wanted to show it respect by running Boston Strong. I met inspiring people along the way, like Amy, who personifies consistency. I crossed the finish line with zero issues to speak of, feet included. Thanks, Mount to Coast, for the wonderful C1’s. Double Boston is in the rear view, but the “remember it forever” day we shared is here to stay. I’m confident after that fitness check.
Final push to Hardrock. A run I’ve dedicated myself to for over a decade and will have the pleasure to line up for in July.
Thanks for the love, all around. Too many people to list. Let’s keep the positivity flowing. We all need it.

“THAT was incredible,” @dgdesnoyers said into the camera as crossed the finish line in downtown Boston for the second time that day. First time round, at 3am on the morning of April 20th, that finish line had marked the start of an epic Double Boston challenge – seven runners heading out from Boston to the marathon start in Hopkinton, before retracing their steps as part of the official race.
Setting off in the dark, the runners ran through the dawn, arriving in Hopkinton in time for breakfast and a couple of hours to relax and refresh before getting down to the real business of the day.
With perfect weather conditions and the perfect shoe for such an audacious challenge, the new Mount to Coast C1, all seven of our athletes made it back to the city, smiling, satisfied, and hungry for more.
Feeling inspired? Which city marathon would you love to double?

Brought together by the @trailanimalsrunningclub and fully stocked, supported, and kitted up by @mounttocoast ; at 3am Marathon Monday, the Double Boston crew began down Boylston St with one goal, to double the worlds oldest marathon.
Somewhere between a guerilla street art strike mission and a finely choreographed ballet, the DoubleBoston pieces all fell into place and we emerged victorious.
What could have easily been a competitive and exclusive environs gave way to a warm and endless session of appreciation, admiration and enthusiasm. The DoubleBoston crew and experience has been etched into my mind and heart as a more formative experience in my adult life.Meeting a group of like minded strangers and quickly becoming old friends, bonded in salt and sweat; we lived multiple iterations of our best lives compressed into 12 hours of the highest highs, the deepest laughs, and in the throws of the pain cave. A potentially herculean task was made lighter by many hands.
So grateful for this and every opportunity to share miles with friends new and old, trade war stories, and stoke each other's fire.

It finished where it began. Downtown Boston and the official finish line of the world’s original Big City Marathon. Seven runners, 52.4 miles, thousands of calories and countless stories that will last a lifetime. We’ll be sharing more of those stories over the days to come, but for now, congratulations to our Double Boston runners! They ran every step in the new Mount to Coast C1, our super trainer for ultra distances.

3am. Boylston Street. Our Double Boston runners are underway. For now it’s “Right on Hereford, Left on Comm Ave” then out into the trio of Newton Hills, a net elevation loss before the long grind up through Wellesley towards our halfway marker, and the start of the race proper, in Hopkinton. We’ve got a long day ahead, but our crew of around 20 runners are in good spirits, enjoying the privilege of quiet roads, good company, and the comfortable ride of the C1.
