On February 21, join us for an intimate walkthrough of Felipe Baeza: Anima, led by author and professor Gayatri Gopinath!

Drawing on her work in queer diaspora and visual culture, Gopinath will explore how Baeza’s hybrid, transformative figures open up new ways of thinking about gender, sexuality, and belonging. This conversation invites us to consider desire through a queer lens, as unruly, diasporic, and rooted in refusal and becoming.

The tour will begin at 2pm followed by a coffee hour at 3pm, offering space for conversation, reflection, and community.

RSVP at the link in our bio! For those unable to attend, Felipe Baeza: Anima is open Tuesday-Saturday 11am-6pm through May 23.

Print Center New York is thrilled to announce New Voices: Design, the fourth iteration of our annual open call program that will showcase work by the 2026 cohort: Noah Breuer, Zoran Dobric, Johannah Herr, Jazzmen Lee-Johnson, Michael Menchaca, Melih Meric, Anette Millington and Amy Yoes.

New Voices: Design examines the historical legacy and contemporary application of pattern across a wide range of printmaking practices. Curated by Andrew Raftery, Professor of Printmaking at Rhode Island School of Design, the exhibition uses design as a guiding framework. The included artists are united by their shared engagement with the history of pattern and its reverberations in the present through design, printmaking and culture.

We're thrilled to congratulate Kate Shepherd (@KateShepherd235) on winning a #GuggenheimFellowship!

Last year, we released "Folding Wall (Blue on Yellow)", 2024, a benefit edition by Shepherd, created in collaboration with @DuGoodPress. The screenprint extends the visual motifs in Shepherd’s recent watercolors and wall paintings, which use superimposed planes of color to evoke relationships between form and space. In these works, Shepherd takes inspiration from the architectural forms of leaning planks, unfolded boxes, the cellar doors that line New York’s sidewalks, and— in the case of her new screenprint— folding walls. The vibrant result exemplifies the extraordinary sensitivity to line, color, and shape for which Shepherd is so celebrated.

It's your last chance to see Felipe Baeza: Anima at Print Center New York!

In an interview with @SurfaceMag the artist shares, "Looking at the works together feels less like seeing a linear progression and more like encountering different moments of inquiry. I see continuity in concerns that have stayed with me for over a decade. Fragmentation, instability, and refusal were present early on, even if I did not yet have the language for them. Certain forms and motifs reappear in unexpected ways. There are gestures in early works that now feel prophetic. At the time, I may not have understood their significance, but revisiting them clarifies that my practice has never been about resolution."

Plan your visit to this vibrant exhibition, on view through Saturday, May 23!

Artist William Villalongo and urbanist Shraddha Ramani’s expansive, collaborative research-based print portfolio, “Printing Black America: Du Bois’s Data Portraits in the 21st Century,” which was on view in Data Consciousness, is now on view at the Brooklyn Public Library through May 31!

The duo reinterpret and respond to the data visualizations innovated by luminary activist and educator W.E.B. Du Bois— what he called “data portraits”— that debuted among a collection of materials at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair in “The American Negro Exhibition” (ANE). One hundred and twenty-five years later, Ramani and Villalongo expand on Du Bois’s methodologies of data collection and visual storytelling, centering “living projects” in local communities across the country to consider new possibilities for Black life today and to probe at the meaning of these historical works when held up against our contemporary moment.

At Print Center New York, Mexican-born, Brooklyn-based artist @FelipeBaeza receives his first institutional exhibition in the city.

Across some forty works of collage, drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media assemblage created over the past fifteen years Baeza explores "unruly" bodies. Among them, queer, migrant, racialized, and hybrid bodies

In Katya Grokhovsky's words: "those that resist containment, categorization, and imposed definitions."

On view through May 23. Don't miss it! And, read the full review on cultbytes.com.

Closing soon: ‘Felipe Baeza: Anima” at @printcenternewyork. This is the artist’s first monographic institutional exhibition in New York, surveying his practice and exploring his grounding in printmaking, as well as the development of his visual language and studio process in depth.

While pursuing his MFA in painting and printmaking at Yale University, @felipebaeza developed a method for making prints without a press: he laid pigment and water onto a plastic sheet on the floor of his studio and then pressed sheets of paper into it, creating skin-like monoprints. He would come to use these sheets of paper as elements with which to construct his images.

Meet Amy Yoes, one of the eight artists featured in our upcoming exhibition New Voices: Design, opening June 11!

Yoes works in a multi-faceted way, alternately employing installation, photography, video, painting, and sculpture. One of her largest projects, Hot Corners (a multi-room installation), was on view at MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA, from 2021-2025. Other recent projects include Correspondências, a solo exhibition at the Contemporary Sculpture Museum in Santo Tirso, Portugal, and multiple Fire Projects, in which she builds complex sculptures that are burned in a choreographed blaze before a live audience.

A lifelong interest in decorative language and architectural space permeates her work. Yoes’s ongoing research into craft, architecture, and ornament has been furthered by travel and research opportunities. She teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and lives most of the year in Narrowsburg, upstate New York, with her husband Jorge Colombo and their two cats, Inky and Sharpie.

Learn more about New Voices: Design and the rest of the featured artists at the link in bio.
