Pretty sure I posted this many years ago but just pulled it out of a storage box and feels like it needs a re-share. Easily one of the more unique promo items in the collection (the stash pocket for all your naughty needs 😆) & def not something you come across too often. Wild Pitch was & is one of my all time favorite labels in the history of the rap genre -- for the life of me I can't remember where I got this from but it's def been in my possession since the Fakin' The Funk promos first dropped (I do recall getting them both around the same time) . Dig it.

The Monday after the next Third Rail is my birthday, so I’m celebrating by giving myself — and all of you — something a little unique and special: a night for true lovers of beats, records, and good music.
We’re bringing in DJ @platurn of the @the45sessions @oaklandfaders, renowned as a true crate digger with deep knowledge and incredible taste.
Joining him are @djkikkoman of Santa Cruz, another respected beat miner, and @feets , my old-school bestie from high school. We were in the same b-boy crew back in the day, and he’s a collector of rare gems.
To close the night, @drakedenver and I (@lowdeka.music ) will be going b2b, throwing down an open-format beat and dance set built to get the floor moving. This is going to be something outside of what you typically hear from us, so it's going to be hella fun!
This is going to be a dope night of great music, good people, and deep cuts. We’re asking for a $10 donation at the door to help pay the DJs and cover costs.

"Talk about a music series that always educates, entertains, and delivers in various forms -- that'd be "What's in My Bag?" from Amoeba, which asks the titular question of shopping, often pretty famous, patrons. Every time I watch an artist I like, don't know, or can't stand, I come away with knowledge.

DJ Platurn is heavyweight, Jack. Bay Area royalty, reppin' Vallejo via Reykjavik. A 30-year veteran of the music industry, founder of Platurn Productions, The 45 Sessions, & the Oakland Faders, he's done it. And then some. So to hear him inform us all for almost 15 minutes on classic Native Tongue albums, Portishead, Soft Machine, Sly, Shuggie Otis, and more is a delight. I was actually making mental notes on albums i've owned and been close with for over 30 years. That's how education should really work. Do your brain and ears a favor and check in on this. It's a gem of an episode. Oh yeah, he digs up a James Brown live at Studio 54 record, too."
