Sometimes a girl just needs a little coffee ☕️ 🤣

Studying for the MCAT with a packed schedule isn’t an easy task. But I’m utilizing my time wisely by studying before and after work (about 6hrs a day), making sure to take adequate breaks, and hitting the gym!

The most challenging part is how much material I have to relearn, but I’m up for the task and taking it day by day! 📖📝🩺

Officially wrapped orientation at my new job as an Anesthesia Tech! 😁 While I definitely still have a lottttt to learn, I’m in awe of everything I’ve been trained to do over the past 5 weeks!

As I continue to get direct patient care experience, next step on my journey towards an advanced career in medicine is the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test)! This will be my first time taking the 7.5 hour test 😅. It’ll be a bit late in the season as far as admissions are concerned but I wanted to get a sense of where I can stand so I can formulate my plan.

Anesthesiology reminds me of DJing! 🎶 I know that sounds crazy… but let me explain!!

I’m starting week 2 as an anesthesia tech, and I’m getting my scrub cap game up 👽. Also I noticed I’m more comfortable wearing these soft cotton tees under my scrubs, so you may see me in them a lot during my videos! I’m going to do some posts coming up explaining everything I’ve learned in my new role (I’m lovingggg it) and what my responsibilities are. As for the future, I’m also going to breakdown my plan for school (med school vs masters), what challenges I’m facing, and whether or not I have a plan B!

Before I got this job, over the past few months, I spent time in several hospitals shadowing different anesthesia providers (anesthesiologists, CRNAs and CAAs). I was in surgery with a CRNA and we had already talked about my career in music. He told me that he used to be a musician and anesthesiology reminded him a lot of Jazz. I told him, “Funny you say that, because it reminds me a lot of DJing!”

Telling stories about my new journey towards a career in medicine and my life as a DJ. This one is called:

TWO TURNTABLES AND A MIC.

I got several DMs asking about my last video, so I thought I’d break down that very chaotic day that I got evicted.

FOR CONTEXT: I had been living in Miami probably about 6 months. I was in college full time during the day and was struggling getting consistent gigs and wasn’t able to pay my rent. In 2011, Miami was 🔥🔥 And if you weren’t already poppin, you had to look the part and pretend to be or else you weren’t getting booked!

Finally… I get a call to DJ a dinner party. Those were a big deal at the time, and usually hosted by a celeb. I thought I finally had something consistent and my problems were solved… 🫠 Think again 🙂

If you’re considering going back to school and worried about how long it’s been, don’t be! At 21, I moved to Miami to build up my DJ career, dropped out of college to go on tour, and I went back a decade later and got my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Now I’m back in school again, taking the necessary courses as I apply later this year to grad and/or med school. And I’ll share tips on how I’m studying in another video.

As I document my new journey towards a career in medicine, I think it’s important to share context. So I’m going to also do a bit of #storytime with my content! Of course it’ll be more of the cliff notes version of the story but I’m happy to make more videos or answer questions if there’s anything you want to know! Feel free to comment or send me a DM 💕

PART 2: One day I woke up and felt like I no longer enjoyed the thing that I thought I was put on this earth to do. So it was time to make a change, so I can one day do it just for fun. 🎶

After a bit of soul searching and praying, I’ve made a decision to go back to school and pursue an original dream I had, a career in medicine 🩺

While you’ll still be able to catch me on your TVs 📺, I’m currently back in school taking my prerequisites while I work towards what program is right for me (I’ll break that down later… med school vs masters!) There are a few avenues that I’m considering. In the meantime, I’m getting the necessary exposure shadowing surgeries and starting my first job at a hospital next week in #Nashville 🥹

I’m really excited and I’m going to do my best to share my journey on here and on the clock app 💕
