Kilikood.ca: Uniting the Malayalee Community in Canada for 6 Years and Counting

Meet our Vibrant Team!

In the vibrant tapestry of Canada’s cultural landscape, the Malayalee community has found a cherished hub in Kilikood.ca. Established formally in 2018 in Toronto, Ontario, Kilikood.ca has been more than just a business directory and ticketing platform; it has become a cornerstone of connection, culture, and collaboration for Malayalees nationwide. From its humble beginnings on social media in 2017 to its current status as the largest platform of its kind, Kilikood.ca has seamlessly woven itself into the fabric of the Malayalee diaspora in Canada.

At the heart of Kilikood.ca lies a clear vision and mission: to unite the Malayalee community under a single platform, nurture and promote its rich culture, foster collaboration among businesses and entrepreneurs, and ultimately elevate the community to new heights culturally, socially, and financially. This noble endeavor has seen Kilikood.ca extend its reach to more than 55 major Canadian cities, serving over 1000 business owners and engaging with more than 60,000 users nationwide.

One of Kilikood.ca’s proudest achievements is its support for Malayalee social, spiritual, and cultural events through its curated ticketing platform, Kilikood Box Office. In 2024 alone, Kilikood.ca facilitated over 100 such events, providing a vital link between organizers and attendees and enriching the community’s cultural tapestry.

Premier Danielle Smith says Albertans will vote this fall on whether the province should move toward a separation referendum.

The question will be: “Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”

The move comes after a Court of King’s Bench decision struck down a pro-separatist referendum question in May. Smith said a yes vote would not trigger immediate separation but would instead allow Alberta to pursue the constitutional steps required to hold a binding vote on independence.

A citywide boil water advisory has been issued for Sudbury, New Sudbury and Falconbridge after Public Health Sudbury and Districts found “adverse samples” during routine water testing. Officials say the advisory is being issued as a precaution while the cause is investigated, and they do not believe anyone who already consumed the water will experience ill health effects.

Residents who get their water from the affected municipal system are being told not to drink tap water unless it has been brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute. The water can still be used for laundry and bathing, but officials are advising extra caution with small children who may accidentally swallow it. Areas including Copper Cliff, Coniston, Walden, Garson, Val Caron, Azilda, Chelmsford, Dowling, Skead and Onaping are not impacted.

Your morning trip on the 401 might finally turn into a high-stakes game. The province is reportedly planning to use high-tech cameras to hunt down clueless drivers who treat the fast lane like their own personal living room. If a camera catches you driving at a snail’s pace while blocking forty angry cars, a massive $1,000 ticket will be mailed straight to your house.
Officials claim this is the only way to stop total highway madness. Since the government has completely failed to fix our endless gridlock or finish basic transit projects on time, they are setting up space-grade cameras to do the job instead. The new system will look for drivers who think the left lane is the perfect spot to cruise at 90 km/h while listening to soft music, completely ignoring the mile-long wall of flashing headlights behind them.
While this headline brings joy to every tired commuter, it highlights a pretty embarrassing reality. Ontario driving has become so lawless that we now need millions of dollars in surveillance tech just to teach people basic driving rules. We have officially reached a point where trying to get to work safely without getting stuck behind a moving roadblock feels like a miracle.

Ontario is banning the purchase and use of Chinese-made drones across government operations over security and privacy concerns.

The province says Chinese laws could require companies to hand over data even if information is stored outside the country. Effective immediately, Chinese-made drones will no longer be used in highly sensitive Ontario Provincial Police operations, and the government will begin phasing out existing devices in favour of drones made in Canada or other approved jurisdictions.

Ontario says the policy aligns with actions already taken by organizations including the RCMP and Canadian Armed Forces. The province will also consult with industry stakeholders in the coming weeks as it looks at replacement options from Canadian and Ontario-based drone manufacturers.

China-based drone giant DJI called the decision disappointing, saying there is no proven evidence its products pose a security risk.
