This is what inspired me to create Bilingual Breathwork Workshops for Latinas and their mamas! Comment “healing” for more info on this Saturday’s session. @greisyhh

We’ll dive into:
• Breathwork techniques
• Love letter prompt to nourish your inner Niña
• Reparenting our Inner child
• Conversation starters to address cultural barriers
• De-escalation tools to reconnect with your family.

We’ll explore the connection between emotional fatigue and physical exhaustion and learn the restorative practice of breathwork. A space to share our first-gen experience and learning tools to help our famila access the healing they deserve. Includes the nuance and context to address cultural barriers and unlearn beliefs keeping us in a state of survival and attached to struggle.

This weekend I was invited to speak to incoming first gen bbs at the @uclalatinxweeked

We talked about protecting our energy, and I got to share my fave big mouth references ✨ as a first-gen college student myself I had moments where I felt I was leaving my family but I need to remember they have their own version of success and it’s okay if it looks different from mine. That’s the same thing I say when their fears or doubts come up. It’s our turn to move past limiting beliefs and step into new possibilities.

If you’re having these difficult conversations, pls let me know what’s helped you! To bring curiosity & transformation..

Here’s the framework that’s helped me:

🐛Vision:What future are we trying to create? Is it safety, restoring the earth..

🪄Action:How can I make my actions mirror my values?

For generative conversations:

I ask myself: Is love and curiosity still leading this conversation?

If not, they’ll feel my judgment, and might shut down or get defensive.

When I notice that shift. Fight-or-flight might have taken over.

Left-nostril breathing or box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4) helps me reset and reenter with intention.

What phrases help open the dialogue?

“What’s something you’ve been reflecting on lately?”

“What values do you think are most important to us as a family?”

As a first-generation Latina with a background in Chicana/o Studies, peacebuilding, and somatic therapy, I’ve seen firsthand how healing the body supports collective liberation. I’ve:

- Led workshops on mental health at UCLA, UC Davis, and AltaMed.

- Facilitated breathwork sessions for nervous system support and sustainable leadership.

- Worked in depolarization- Peace Innovator, helping communities build evidence-based tools.
