Great Yarmouth Racecourse
An historic racing venue on the Norfolk coast and home to the 3-day Eastern Festival 🏇
We greatly value our community here at Great Yarmouth and relish the opportunities to give back, whether that be ensuring our prices stay as low as possible or donating tickets to local causes. We love hearing back following your visits too - no matter who you are!
Margaret came for a day out with us from dementia care home Harleston House, for an Afternoon Tea for her and her party, and we are thrilled that we were able to put a smile on her face and remind her of her earlier years!
She used to be sent off to put bets on in her lunch break whilst working at a local dairy farm but never got the opportunity to go to the races so we just HAD to make sure this happened!
She said "I would get on my Hercules bicycle and pedal fast to reach the bookers and back in my break. I did this for about 70 years, had a fair few wins over the years". After her day with us she told said “this is the best day I have had in a long time; this has been lovely and I don’t mind missing my bingo for this”.
Activity lead Gareth said “As soon as Margaret and her party arrived at the Great Yarmouth Racecourse, they could not have done anymore to have enhanced her experience. Not only did they look after her they looked after us all. The staff in all departments were so helpful and friendly and really gave us all an experience. A special thank you to Maxine in helping me plan and organise the event”
We are so fortunate that we are able to make these dreams come true and meet such wonderful people from our community in the process!
