STAND TOGETHER π€ππ€π€β€οΈπ§‘πππ There has been a lot of anti-Blackness prevalent in the Asian community, especially because of the βmodel minorityβ stereotype placing Asian Americans alongside their white counterparts. β£β£

There have even been instances of Asian Americans bringing down other POC in order to be compliant to whites. This occurred in the recent incident of Tou Thao partaking in the murder of George Floyd. β£β£

While we can not generalize all Asians, the history of participating in racist ideology with words and actions, which is only more pronounced when it comes to the Black community has been a serious issue in the Asian community.

Anton Song, the writer of a visual poem titled Malcolm, stated that βNot only did African Americans fight for all people of colour in their struggle for civil rights, but they ignited the spark of racial justice for all of us. We owe a great debt to them as Asian Americans, and solidarity between Asian Americans and African Americans emerges naturally from the history of white supremacy.ββ£β£

And we do. It does. One of the main ways that white supremacy is upheld is through the separation and disunity instilled within the multiple minority communities.This issue isnβt just a United States issue but an issue worldwide. β£β£

Racism occurs across the world, within and against different communities. It is up to us to decide what side of history we want to be a part of. Are we going to be that community that stands in solidarity with white supremacy and police brutality? Or are we going to stand up for a minority that has sacrificed everything for this very country?β£ We can not be an advocate for racism against Asians and not extend our advocacy to other minority groups as well. Enough is enough. We canβt change the past but we can fix the future starting right now. β£ β£
